Zuko inspected the Avatar's staff before walking away with it.

He left the Avatar to some of the crew.

I approached the crew, and I waved them away, "you guys can go, I can take it from here."

"But, Miss-"

"I wasn't joking. Scram."

They nodded and left me with the Avatar.

We started walking down to the jail cells.

He coughed, "so, I guess you've never fought an Airbender, huh?"

"No. But I wouldn't try anything. I'm not like those idiots you were just with."

The Avatar took a deep breath and blasted a powerful gust of air from his mouth sending me back several feet. He started to run.

I sighed and raised my hand, my blood bending restraining him to his spot, "listen kid, I said I wasn't like those idiots. Stuff like that isn't going to work on me."

"It was worth a try," he grumbled.

I walked him to his cell and locked the door before sitting down in front of him, "So, you're the Avatar, huh?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. Well, what's your name? I'm not going to go around calling you the Avatar. I'm (Y/N)."

"It's Aang."

"Listen Aang, I'm really sorry."

"Sorry? I'd think the people who have me in a jail cell would be much meaner."

"This wasn't my idea, you know," I sighed, "I never wanted to capture the Avatar."

His expression softened, "Then why are you?"

"It's complicated."

"I don't think it is. You choose your own path (Y/N)."

I chuckled, "you're really wise for a kid, you know."

He shrugged, "I guess."

I sighed and unlocked his cell, "run."

"What?"

"You have 30 seconds before I scream 'The Avatar has escaped'. Run."

"I- (Y/N)?"

"30...29...28..."

Aang started sprinting, his airbending allowing him to go faster than humanly possible. Once I saw that he was out of my scope of vision I yelled, "The Avatar has escaped," as promised.

Then I waited a few minutes before running out to the deck.

Zuko and Aang were facing off.

I sighed.

Zuko smirked, "I underestimated you, how'd you get past (Y/N)?"

Aang didn't say anything.

A few minutes into the fight I heard a loud growling noise. I looked up to see a sky bison- I recognized them from old Air Nation photos. They had a lot of those scattered in the remains of the cities. Atop of the bison was that girl, Katara, and the boy- I think his name was Sokka.

Aangs face lit up and he looked up to see the bison, "Appa!"

As Aang was distracted Zuko knocked him off the boat, and I watched as he plunged into the water.

"Aang!" I screamed.

Zuko whipped his head back to me, "Since when were you on a first-name basis with the Avatar?"
