~ Time ~ Early Evening- day of Tyler's party ~ Tyler's POV ~

~ Location ~ Kingdom of Flowers Ball Room ~

     I still can't believe that my dad made me have a birthday party.  He knows that I hate social gatherings of any sort.  I get that he's just trying to prepare me to be a king but I don't know any of these people and there are about fifty of them.  How does he expect me to act comfortable when I'm surrounded by strangers.  The only people that I'm comfortable with at this party are him and Ashley, and they're not even hanging around me.  My father is greeting guests and Ashley is hanging around her group of friends.  I understand that they have their own lives but it just makes me feel even more out of place hiding in the corner.  I don't think any of these people know who I am or what I look like.  Most of them came because of responsibility or were dragged here by someone else.

     As I just stood there like an idiot surveying the room I considered just heading to my room.  It's not like any of these people would notice any ways.  I mean who would wonder 'what happened to the awkward kid in the corner?'  The answer is no one except for his father of best friend who was practically their sister.  As I thought of this I found myself just watching Ashley having fun with her friends who would likely end up spending the night here after the party.  I just didn't understand how she could make friends so easily.  I could understand how if they were just using her, but they were real friends who stood by her and edged her on.  The way she found amazing people so easily just confused me.

     After a few minutes of just admiring her I went to the door that went to the rest of the castle and slipped away.  Of course the only reasons I had to be sneaky was to make sure my dad or Ashley  didn't notice.  The other was so that no one asked what I was doing since I don't exactly have the presence of a prince.  They would probably think I was braking in to steal something.

     When I arrived at my door I went inside and found a good book to read.  I planned on spending my time enjoying my birthday the way I wanted to.  Which consisted of reading an interesting book with a snack of some sort.  I opened the book got my snack and began to read.

~ Carter's POV ~

     When we arrived we were greeted by the king which was pretty cool, but that quickly changed when he realized who we were an where we were from.  He and my father just glared at each other while me and Jayden stood there awkwardly.  When he did finally notice us he sized us up and asked which one was my father's son. 

     "I'm his son and that's my friend," I responded while Jayden nodded in agreement.

     "I see, so you're the idiot who was rude to my son," he said with a sneer.

     "Yes... but I reflected upon my actions and I deeply regret what I said to your son.  He just responded how most people would if they were from our kingdoms and met each other.  I got upset with him for no reason and made him upset.  The reason I came to the party was to apologize to him and if you could show me where he is I would gladly do so."

     "I have to say.  Even though he's your son, you did raise him well.  He's right over..."

     He looked around the room for a moment before excusing himself.  I was confused until I too realized that the prince wasn't at his own party.  I gave my friend a confused look and when they realized what was happening they just shrugged.  Thinking about it now he didn't seem like the kind of guy who wants a party.  I guess it makes sense that he would sneak off.  In the meantime me and Jayden just wandered around to see if we recognized anyone.  After a while Jayden spotted a group of girls and went over t start flirting with them.  Having nothing better to do I just rolled my eyes and followed him to be his wingman.
