A/N Hey guys I am going to be fine as long as I don't try to do any ruff housing or contact sports (like I would do either of those things). So I am back with another chapter (also I know this is the same image as the last update thing and that is just because I had already started to work on the second chapter before I posted that and I couldn't change the image from what I posted it on.) Hope you enjoy!

Three Days Later ~ Carter's POV ~

Location ~ Kingdom of Swords ~

When I arrived home from my combat training I saw my mother and father sitting at the dinning table discussing something. At first I paid no attention to the conversation until I heard my name come up and became immediately interested. I stealthily walked past so that they wouldn't suspect a thing. I was so impressed by my stealth skills and almost didn't heard what they were saying but once I did it shocked me to the core.

"I just don't know if it would be safe to send him to do this. I mean, even if he has had extensive training it just seems too soon to make him do something like this," my mother said with concern in her voice.

"Look would I make him do something he couldn't handle. Besides if he doesn't do this how will he ever be able to successfully rule a kingdom. Look I know he may be a bit rash but he can take it," my father said reassuringly,

"But-" my mother began to say before I swiftly cut her off to reassure her of my amazing talent and over all brilliance.

"Don't worry mother I can handle any challenge that I have to face. No matter how big or how small, I will succeed," I said the confidence in my voice overwhelming to the point where they were both so in awe that they didn't know what to say. I then asked, "So, what were you talking about sending me to do, because whatever it is I can take it." While my mother put her head to her hands and began to shake it back and forth probably so inspired by my words she didn't know what to say. My father began to respond.

"Well son, we were talking about sending you to save a princess. Even though I think you can handle it your mother thinks you're too young to take that responsibility. After all if you rescue her then you will definitely marry her."

"I will marry her as long as she is pretty and since it will be a win for the family that I will have gotten us. Besides it will just add to my legacy of awesomeness. In the end it will just add to my fame."

"That's the spirit son and don't worry I would never set you up with someone below my standards," he then leaned over and whispered to me as he gestured to mother, "Like my father did to me." He then smiled and leaned away. I felt slightly uneasy knowing that my father might make me marry someone that I don't love and that he and my mother in fact did not love each other. I quickly turned around and walked away to avoid any more conversation that will ruin my idea of my perfect family.

As I approached my room I asked one of our servants to bring my dinner to my room tonight. I quickly entered my room and shut the door behind me. I walked over to my bed and lied down on it to think about the conversation I just had. After about a minute of that there was a knock on my door. I yelled for whoever it was to come in and my friend Jayden entered.

"Hey why are you so upset?" they asked.

"I just had the weirdest conversation with my parents and I have to rescue a princess that I have to marry afterwards. I told my parents that I would as long as she was pretty and it helped us win ,but I after that conversation I'm worried that even if I rescue her she won't really love me and I won't love her," I confessed to them.

"Well if you end up not loving her can't you just tell your dad you don't want to marry her? I mean if knows how it feels to marry someone you don't love then I'm sure that he would understand and let you not marry her."

"The thing is that the deal between my dad and the other king is that I would have to save and marry the princess. So I doubt he would allow me to not marry her."

"Yeah I guess you're right. So maybe you could marry her but not go any further than that. So that your dad wins the bet and you don't have to do anything else with her."

"But even if I do that I will still have to marry her and never marry my true love. Maybe I should just pretend that she has already been saved by getting her out of where ever she is and hiding her from the other prince so that I don't have to save her and the other guy also can't save her. Then we won't have to marry each other and my dad won't lose the bet."

"What if by preventing that other guy from saving her they never meet each other and they end up being each other's true love. Then you'll have prevented soulmates from meeting and be an awful person."

"Yeah, you make a good point. But then what will I do. I don't want to have to marry her and if I don't save her my family will lose their prized position."

"Dude. Have you ever thought that maybe she has already been rescued by someone else and your family has out dated news. if that's the case then you can go on your quest and tell them that she was already rescued that way you don't have to marry her and you won't be ruining any relationships that would have happened otherwise. It's a win win situation."

"That could just work. Ok! It's decided, I will go on the quest and just hope that she has already been rescued! But wait, what will my dad and the other king do if she has already been rescued?"

"I don't know but this is your best option right now and probably your only option if you don't want to marry her."

"You're right I can't back out now. You should go home now it's getting late and I have to pack for tomorrow. I can't wait to got on my first quest even if it could end in me being in a relationship with someone who doesn't love me it'll still be an adventure."

I then showed them out and began to pack. Shortly after I realized that my father didn't actually tell me where she is trapped so I didn't know what to pack. I decided to just pack some things that would be good in any situation and hope it was correct as well as my sword to fight off any foes. I closed my satchel full of supplies and headed toward the dining room to inform my parents that I would be heading out in the morning and that I needed directions to where she was.

"Mother, Father. I am going to begin my quest tomorrow morning but I need directions first," I informed them. My father walked over to me without saying a word and handed me a map before giving me a hug and an encouraging smile.

In the Morning at Sunrise

I saddled up my horse Sir Jefferson Sliverhooves and began my long journey to find and save the princess who my father told me was named Danelle. I was nervous but I knew I had the skills and talent to rescue her from whatever it was.

A/N I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. It was really fun to make my cockiest character have relationship problems and possibly show signs of not wanting to settle down with some one who might not even like.
