🎶I'll take the world by storm ~ Lukas Graham

Tara Afua Henrie●

A week later...

Another Saturday night was upon us, and we were about to kickstart the weekly tradition of the Originally Afro-Mex Night of Music.

"Tara! Are you ready?" Pam barged into my dressing room, jittery and all smiles.

"Yep." Maggie, the make-up artist, responded. "All done."

"Thanks Maggie." I turned to my sister, who was wearing a silver sequined dress that had her glowing like a disco ball. "What's got you so excited?"

"It's a full house again!" Pam remarked. "At this point, we should start charging entry fees like they do at those fancy concerts."

"You're kidding, right?"

"Maybe." She gave me a sly grin.

"Pam!" I warned.

"I'm joking," she laughed. "I know it's too early for that. We still need to reel more people in. And that's why entry is going to be free until you become a bonified international pop singer, then I'll start charging crazy, insane prices."

Smiling, I shook my head. "Since when did you become so money-minded?"

"Since my little sister started raking in the cash." She grabbed my shoulders and put a dainty kiss on my forehead. "You look stunning, T. Go knock'em dead. You and that band of yours."

"Thanks, Sis." I smiled, happy that my relationship with Pam had improved. She was still a bit bossy, a complete know-it-all, and hot-headed, but I knew her heart was in the right place.

Pam gave me a final squeeze before heading off to manage the kitchen activities.

I took a moment to steady myself, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. Tonight was a big night. For the first time, I was officially playing with The Stars of the Future and I wanted everything to go perfectly.

That fateful Sunday, after the talk I had with Jax on the patio, he, Carlos and Eden had a quick discussion inside the restaurant. Though Carlos expressed doubts that his bandmates might let him down again, he assured Jax that he's still willing to give the band another chance—but only if they promised not to allow personal problems to interfere with their career. Eden, on the other hand, had other issues. She told Jax that she was a bit wary of working with me. But he convinced her that I was their best shot at getting back into the music world.

Later, we discussed rehearsals. We spent close to four hours every single day of the week, preparing for Saturday. We even managed to attract a relatively huge audience during Thursday's lunch hour, and we were just performing Coldplay's Hymn for the Weekend. If we were able to gather this many people with a cover, then I wonder what we'd attract when we performed my own songs.

As I walked backstage, I decided to steal a peek at the main restaurant.  Pam wasn't lying. The place was packed to the hilt, even better than last week. Word had probably gotten out about how good we were.

Instinctively, I pulled out my phone, hoping to have received a message or a response from a certain someone. But as usual, nothing.
