🎶I am joy and sadness, pains and madness ~ Jamie Grace

●Tara Afua Henrie●

The following day

I sat in Refugio's office, watching some amateur entertainment show host narrate with gusto how GuiTara had cleverly used drama to wreck havoc amongst her bandmates.

A phone recording of everything that happened that night began to roll on the TV, and I harshly sucked in a breath.

That video was on every single social media platform on the planet. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the tabloids had also published their version and timeline of my secret relationship with Shaun Perez. Plus, the paparazzi has been trailing me everywhere I go. Seriously, I couldn't catch a break and it was beginning to get on my nerves.

All of a sudden, the TV went off and I turned. "Hey!"

Refugio dumped the remote on her desk. "You shouldn't be watching that."

"Why? So I can remain in denial?"

She shot me a look.

"What?" I quizzed. "It's true. Everyone thinks I'm the bad guy, that I deliberately caused all this. That tacky show host even said I was and I quote 'una maestra manipuladora.'"

"So what?" Refugio countered. "You know it's not true. I know it's not true. Everyone in this building knows it's not true. Heck, even Eden and Jax know it's not true. What happened yesterday was just based off a huge misunderstanding. Jax mistook your friendship for something else and Eden?" She huffed. "If you ask me, I think Eden brought this upon herself. If she really liked Jax, she should've told him, instead of waiting for someone else to tell her to do it. None of this is your fault, Tara. You just accidentally got caught up in the middle of it all."

I sank further in my seat. There was a lot of sense in what Refugio said. It wasn't my fault, honestly. But for some strange reason, I couldn't shake off that feeling of guilt dwelling in my system. Maybe I shouldn't have meddled. Maybe I shouldn't have told Eden to tell Jax how she feels.

"Argh!" I groaned, covering my face with my hands.

A knock sounded through Refugio's office door and it wasn't long till I heard it creak open.

"Oh good, you're here."

Into the office marched Luca, Carlos, and after ten minutes, Eden. The bags under her eyes told a tale of a teary and sleepless night. Nevertheless, she had done a good job trying to mask it all up with heavy makeup.

The only empty chair in the room was on my left, and since Eden wasn't going to sit next to the vile witch that ruined her life, we all had to endure the ear-splitting screech that came with her attempt to reposition.

She dragged the chair so faraway that you could park a car in between us.

Pretending not to notice, Refugio shook her head before she began her address. "Well, I'm glad to see you all here, mostly because we have a very, very big fish to fry."

Carlos scoffed, "Really, what could possibly be bigger than the fish we're frying now?"

Refugio drawed in a breath then said, "Jax wants out of the band."
