🎶Nothing can stop us now ~ Alesso feat. Sirena

Tara Afua Henrie●

A few weeks later

The day we had all been waiting for had finally arrived.

The newly opened Originally Afro-Mex venue was vibrant and full of energy.  Not too long ago, Pam had unveiled the new sign on top of the building. As the tarp came down, revealing the sleek, red lettering that stood boldly against the night sky, the cheers from the crowd were so loud that they could be heard from miles away.

The parking lot was packed with food stalls serving various samples of the Afro-Mexican fusion dishes the restaurant had to offer. Tacos, jollof rice, tamales with plantain stuffing, spicy goat kebabs, and hibiscus sugar churros were just a few of the meals being served. The scents filled the air, making my stomach rumble.

To distract myself, I stepped out of my dressing room and headed backstage in search of the band.

It didn't take long for me to locate the others. They stood next to the staircase, leading up to the stage. Jax was the first to spot me, and the moment our eyes met, his grew wide, taking in my outfit. Then his gaze softened, and his lips parted slightly. "Wow, Tara," he finally said, his voice low. "You look...stunning."

I immediately felt my face heat up. I was just wearing a colourful sleeveless top with some blue jeans and a pair of purple hightops. A casual and not too-flashy ensemble, but Jax kept staring at me like I was some sort of African Cinderella.

Standing next to him, Eden rolled her eyes with an exaggerated groan. "Oh, please. She looks great, yes, but we have a show to focus on. Don't get all sappy now."

"Wow, Eden. Jealous much?" Carlos teased, elbowing her lightly, and she didn't hesitate to shoot him a glare.

"Hardly," Eden fired back. "I just want to get through this without Jax drooling all over the stage."

Jax's eyebrows immediately dipped low. "Whoa, I don't drool."

"Yeah, right," she drawled with a boatload of sarcasm.

"Focus, guys." Luca strolled over with a clipboard and my trusty guitar in hand. "You're about to go up."

We all turned towards the stage just in time to hear the final notes of Pam's introduction.

"...we've all seen them perform, and they're definitely no strangers to a crowd," she announced into the microphone. "Damas y caballeros, here to rock the entire house tonight, please let's give it up for GuiTara and The Stars of the Futuure!"

Grabbing my guitar from Luca, all four of us ran upstage, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Hundreds of people were cheering, clapping, and waving their hands in the air. The massive stage lights cast a warm glow over us, illuminating the Originally Afro-Mex 5th anniversary sign on display in the stage backdrop.

"Alright, everyone," I called into the mic, my voice echoing across the massive parking lot. "Are you ready to rock?"

The crowd erupted in response, and the sheer volume of their cheers made my heart soar.

"Ok, let's get right into it! Two, three, four!"

Carlos smashed into the intro with his drums thundering through the speakers like a heartbeat. Jax's fingers flew over his keys, adding a vibrant melody, while Eden's bassline throbbed beneath it all, steady and strong. I joined in last with my guitar ringing out in rhythm, and then I launched into the lyrics.
