(Y/N) POV

Ben let go of me, stepping back and smiling at me.
"Come on, lets get some breakfast."

"I'll come a little later, I have some other stuff to copy down that can't wait."
"I'll bring you down some then. Harry, keep an eye on my sister, okay?" Harry nodded, looking over the papers in front of us. He pointed out many things I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I didn't even notice when Ben came and left, dropping off our breakfast. By mid morning, I had everything I could possibly need. Including bits and pieces from all of our family trees. Harry helped me pack up all the the books and scrolls I had pulled out. I couldn't help but smile to myself, he was a little rough around the edges, but he had a heart of gold.  I carefully  picked up the note book I'd created. Harry picked up the plates from breakfast, carrying them up the stairs beside me.
"I think Mal May have more answers to some of this stuff too,  she seemed to know  some facts the other day."

"Yeah," he smiled at me, "I just hope this works out, you terrified me last night (Y/N). But I trust you, but please never do that again." I smiled at him, Harry wasn't one to show very many personal emotions, especially fear.
"I'm sorry I scared you, I just did what felt natural. I went off my instincts like Uma told me to, and it worked. But I'll try not to do it as much." He shook his head, a grin on his face. We passed through the halls and dropped off our plates, and I went up stairs and grabbed my satchel, and emptied it out, and threw in things that would be helpful. Like water and snacks, the note book, and a small first aid kit. I grabbed my archery things, headed down the stairs. Now that I knew I didn't have to be afraid of the creatures, I wasn't afraid to go out into the forest and get some archery practice done. I managed to slip past Carlos, and used one of the doors that led outside at the back of the castle, and a stair well that ended near the water.
I remembered the creature is seen in the water, but I did not falter.  If I could calm a mighty roaring beast, then I could calm anything. I began to see the water thrashing back and forth, and then caught a familiar flash of sea-green hair. It was Uma, she said she'd look into the beast, I guess I just wasn't ready for this so soon. I saw a glimpse of the creature; it was a Kelpie. A horse from mythology that would capture its victims by pretending to be a normal horse, then when they couldn't get off because of its magic, it would drown them. She wouldn't be able to free herself, no matter how strong you were, you can't escape it. Gill was on the shore, unsure of what to do. I kicked off my boots and set my bags as far back from the water I could, which ended up with them hanging on a tree branch. I pulled my hair back into a pony tail (no pun intended), and waded into the water.

"(Y/N)! What are doing?"
"Just trust me Gill, get ready to help Uma when I pull her out." I whistled, getting the creatures attention. It popped up out of the water, looking at me quizzically. I raised my hand, the ring glowing a warm blue tone. "Release her and come here." It fought and struggled to escape my stare, but it was forced to comply. It bucked Uma off when it was close to shore, throwing her into Gill's arms. The Kelpie came forward, watching my every move. I didn't here the rest of our friends come down the stairs behind me. I rested my palm against its forehead, it leaned into it. "What's your name?"

"Cecilia." It was a light bubbly voice, reminding me of a child.

Evie POV

Gill has flagged us down through one of the windows, and we came rushing out just in time to see (Y/N) use whatever magic that was in the ring. Mal and Lonnie has told us the story from last night, but we didn't believe it fully. But now seeing it in action, I almost fainted. (Y/N) seemed to be having a conversation with it, which terrified me even more.

"What else lives in this lake?"

"There's a small family of people with tails that live in a ship reck towards the east. An octopus that lives my the water fall. Plenty of fish and a few dolphins. And there are two more of me besides me." (Y/N) pulled a small notepad out of her pocket and wrote on it for a minute or two, then tore it off and folded it tightly together.

"Cecilia, if you wouldn't mind, would you take this to the people with tails?"

"I will take it. But be warned, they can be a little cold." She nodded and released the horse, and it dove back into the water with a large splash. (Y/N) shook herself to most of the water off when she stepped onto the shore. Flipping her hair out of her face.

"At least you're consistent." Harry said sighing.

"We need to be down here again around 3:00, to meet with I I suspect to be merfolk. That should be interesting." She pulled on her shoes and grabbed two bags that had been hanging on a tree branch and headed inside.

Harry shook his head and followed after her. "This girl is going to be the death of me." He caught up to her rather quickly, and they both disappeared inside the castle.

"What did I just witness?" It was Carlos who spoke, completely dumbfounded and confused.

"Meet the new guardian of nature. That's the power the ring gives her. But it will only work in certain people." Jane replies.

"At least she didn't faint this time..." Ben said with his head in his hands.
