After quick introductions and helping you escape, Agent Hill took you all to a secret location where your wounds could get treated. Steve had helped you out of the car and let you lean on him for a while. As you all walked down a long hallway a man ran towards you.

"GSW. They've lost at least a pint," Hill told him.

"Maybe two," Sam added.

"Let me take them," the man told them. You assumed he was a doctor.

"They'll want to meet him first."

You were led to a room blocked off by a curtain. Hill pulled it back and you saw a man with an eyepatch laying on a medical bed with bandages on his body. He looked up at all of you, "About damn time."

You were told to sit on a chair by his side so that the doctor could treat your wound. As he got to work you tried to figure out where you knew the man on the bed and why Natasha and Steve were shocked to see him alive. Finally, when you connected the dots you pointed at him, "Nick Fury right? I thought you were dead."

Fury smirked, "No just a lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver, and one hell of a headache."

"Don't forget your collapsed lung," the doctor added.

"Oh, let's not forget that. Otherwise, I'm good."

"They cut you open," Natasha told him, "your heart stopped."

"Tetrodotoxin B. Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Banner developed it for stress. Didn't work so great for him, but we found a use for it."

"Why all the secrecy?" Steve asked. "Why not just tell us?"

"Any attempt on the director's life had to look successful," Hill told him.

"Can't kill you if you're already dead," Fury answered. "Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust."

It got quiet for a moment, the only sound coming from you as the doctor dressed your wound. He gave you some pain killers to help and explained how lucky you were that the injury was not worse. As you listened you noticed Fury looking at you.

"You're the magician, right?" He then turned to Natasha, "You were quick in finding them."

"They found me actually," Natasha corrected.

"And she hasn't been able to get rid of me since," You told him.

After Fury and you got some time to change into some new clothes you were all gathered around a table discussing what to do next. You tried not to move your arm too much as you sat listening to all the details. The painkillers helped in dulling the pain a little, but it still stung. Steve asked if you wanted to sit this one out, but you waved him off. You've come this far you weren't going to bail out now.

Fury looked at a picture of Pierce in front of him, "This man declined the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, "Peace wasn't an achievement, it was a responsibility." See, it's stuff like this that gives me trust issues."

"We have to stop the launch," Natasha told him.

"I don't think the Council's accepting my calls anymore." He opened a case revealing three blue computer chips.
