No Strings On Me

When two Iron Legions burst through the walls everyone scrambled. Maria got down behind the couch, and steve flipped over the coffee table for cover but still got thrown back. Tony and Rhodey tried helping, but Tony was knocked into a bookshelf, and Rhodey was tossed through some glass and onto the floor below. Clint hid under a table while Bruce and Natasha took cover behind the bar. You and Dr. Cho ducked behind a piano.

"Stay here," you tell the doctor, and go help your teammates.

"I don't plan on going anywhere," she replied.

You teleport behind the bar and grab onto Natasha and Bruce. "You need a ride?"

"Upstairs," Nat told you. As you teleport them to the loft, a legionnaire shoots at you. Steve jumps on its back, but it slams him into a wall and then throws him to the ground.

"Stark!" Rogers yells.

You look around for Tony and see him in the air also on the back of one of the robots. "One sec, one sec!"

"We are here to help," the robots repeat as Tony holds on to it.

Thor managed to rip apart one of the Iron Legions, but you notice its upper half reactivate and fly towards Dr. Cho. It points its repulsor at her, but you quickly teleport her out of there. Cap then throws the robot towards Thor, who smashes it with his hammer.

"(Y/N)," Steve calls out. "Shield!"

Reacting quickly you teleport towards Steve's shield and toss to him. He uses it to break the last legionnaire that now lays dismembered on the ground.

Ultron speaks again. "That was dramatic! I'm sorry, I know you mean well. You just didn't think it through. You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to...evolve?"

"With these? These puppets?" He picks up one of the broken Iron Legions and breaks its head. "There's only one path to peace: The Avengers' extinction."

Thor suddenly throws his hammer at Ultron and smashes him to pieces.

Before he dies out you can hear it sing. "I had strings, but now I'm free. There are no strings on me."

There's a silence in the room as everyone takes in what just happened. All you can think about is how you'll never watch Pinocchio the same way again.

"A little help here."

You turn and see Hill limping towards everyone. Dr. Cho rushes to her side and notices the glass on her bare feet. "(Y/N), help me take her to the lab."

"On it." You pick up Maria, bridle style so that she doesn't have to put any weight on her injuries.

She put her arms around your neck and smiled, "My night in shining armor."

"You know it," you tease as you teleport her out of there.

This helps knock the rest of the team back to reality. Most of them go into the lab as Bruce and Tony try and figure out what happened. Thor flew out once it was learned one of the Iron legions had taken Loki's scepter. Every time you thought things were bad it just got worse.

"All our work is gone. Ultron cleared out; used the internet as an escape hatch," Bruce informed everyone.

"Ultron," Steve muttered.

"He's been in everything," Natasha added. "Files, surveillance. Probably knows more about us than we know about each other."

Everyone is unnerved by that.

"He's in your files, he's on the internet. What if he decides to access something a little more exciting?" Rhodey asks.

"Nuclear codes," Maria says. She's sitting on a chair taking the glass out of her foot.

"Nuclear codes," Rhodey agrees. "Look, we need to make some calls, assuming we still can."
