The Six: Heroes' Origins (Marvel)

Chapter 3

After mike left, Summer couldn't help but feel lonely even though she was around others. They were chatting as always, but she couldn't engage in their conversation because she was zoned out thinking about him; about how she felt, denying that she likes him.

"So what do you do?" Allis asked, breaking Summer out of her zone.

Summer replied saying "I'd like just fries please," thinking they were taking her order, not realizing she was stuffing her face, "why are we ordering again?"

"We aren't," Allis explained, "I was just asking, what you are doing for the L.A high school championships next year?"

"I'm doing Tennis, sigh" summer replied as if it was a chore

"What's got you down, is it the coach? 'cause I know the feeling" Jason said

Summer let out a light chuckle "No, it's my mom, I don't want to play tennis, not that it's not fun but it's just a little easy to get used to losing all the the time and even if I win, I don't feel that feeling my mom tells me of whenever she would tell me stories of the times she played tennis"

"So what do you want to do?" Jade asked feeling bad for her friend

Summer says "I want to fly drones, that's the closest I could get to flying like my dad, I've always had a fondness of flying not like a bird because birds are dumb, I want to fly more like an angel or a pilot, ever since my dad took me sky diving against my mom's wills, it was my favorite memory of him, before he jumped from that plane, strapped to his belly I held him tight out of fear at firs,t but then,

He shouted to me over the loud winds, "Trust me this is gonna feel great, you can't fall ,at least I won't let you, I didn't bring you here to scare you I just wanted to fly with me"

"Then we jumped, from then on I knew what I wanted"

At this point they had tears running down their faces

Brandon, experiencing multiple emotions at once said without thinking "Isn't he the dad that died in that friendly fire plane accident?"

"Thanks for ruining the mood Brandon," Allis said, annoyed at Brandon's poor timing

Summer replied saying "Yeah, but it's more of he said-she said thing. In the fog my dad's comrade started shooting at him, thinking it was an enemy aircraft. My dad could've fought back but his coms were out, so he sacrificed himself to spare his comrade, knowing that his comrade had a newborn on the way, my mom would always say he was so selfless that he forgot about me; but to me, the whole story sounds a little weird"

Allis, hearing that story of heroic sacrifice thinks back to the legendary heroes who sacrificed themselves to save the universe from the mad titan in 2025 and the 5 years before that and all the documentaries she would watch of the avengers and their battles with the invading aliens and the Ultron's uprising. She realizes that she knows too much about these heroes.

Brandon sees her looking out in space he asks "What's wrong?" He may have asked that but he already knows that most times she spaces out like that she thinking about heroes again.

Back at the dojo.

When mike sees that his strike got blocked by Nico he quickly jumped back in retreat. Nico angrily brushed the sand off his shoulders and gave Mike a deadly stare to intimidate him.

Mike ran at Nico and swung down at him but he dodged with a side step, Mike took the opportunity to horizontally swing at Nico, but Nico used his palm to push Mike's sword down into the ground, disarming him.

Now that Mike is at a disadvantage Nico was ready to go on the offensive. He ran at Mike with his bo staff extended; holding it like a sword and swung at him, Mike tried to dodge it by going under it but he fell on his back and Nico took the chance to stab at him with the staff but Mike rolled to avoid it and eventually, he sees the end of the sandpit so he got up and stood at the edge of the pit, waiting for Nico to come at him because he had a plan

4 feet away from each other Nico is skillfully spun his bo staff to further assert his dominance of the situation, he said to Mike "Do you think I'm a fool? you're going to take a few hits then try to push me out the ring"

Mike replies "hehe you got me, but what if you drop the staff and fight me like a man?"

Nico looked at Mike like he was looking at the dumbest person ever, "No" He said in a deadpan tone

"Fine then," Mike said shrugging his shoulders, "let's do this!" He said, sneaking his toes under his sword hidden in the sand.

Nico charged at Mike spinning his No staff

Mike crouched his head at pelvis height, as if he is about to rugby tackle Nico, he got ready to kick the sword up

He felt like needles were poking him from the tip of his toe under the sword to then crown of his head, everything slowed down to a crawl as if time itself has slowed, he looked around him but was unable to move like he's in a dream. He saw everyone as still as a rock, he thought to himself; how familiar this feeling is whenever he is winning his brain trying to savor the moment.

He grabbed the sword with precision he never showed before, he gave a shout and with great force and power swung right at Nico, causing him to flip out of the sandpit.
