𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐁𝐎𝐘 ~ 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧

The next day me and Nick went to school together. We're at our lockers when someone calls my name. We turn around. It's Mara. She has a few boxes in her hands and is struggling with holding them. Nick runs up to her and helps her.

"Thanks" She says. "What is this all for?" I ask looking at all the boxes she brought. "next week is Dylans birthday. I wanna do something special but I need your help" she says looking at both me and Nick. "Ofcourse what's the plan?" I ask. "Well since we haven't been to the tree house for a while I wanted to make a hang out spot out of it" she says.

Last year me and Mara were taking a walk when we found a tree house. It's a little old but we came there a lot. We haven't been there in so long though. I actually love to make that our hang out spot.

"Where is this tree house?" Nick asks. "It's close to your house actually" I say. "It's like 2 streets away" "Yes but it's pretty old so we have to renovate it a bit" Mara says. I nod. "We'll hvae to start soon if you want it to be done in a week" I say. "Lets start tomorrow then" Nick says. Me and Mara agree.

*the nex day*

After school me and Nick are waiting for Mara at our lockers.

"hey guys" she says when she walks towards us. She has a bag full of stuff.

"What's all of that?" I ask pointing to her bag. "Oh hammers and stuff" she says.

We get in Maras car. She drives to the park where the tree house is. We get out of the car and walk to the tree house. I grab the stick we hid so we could take the ladder down. I take the ladder down and climb up. Mara and Nick wait down the ladder. It makes a cracking sound when I start walking on the wood.

"We should definitely get some new wood" I say getting back down the ladder. "I'll do that I have a truck" Nick says. "I'll help you" I say. "Ok then I'm gonna look inside if we need anything else. I'll just text you guys if we do need anything" Mara says. We all agree and me and Nick walk back out of the park.

We walk to Nick house since it's only a 5 minute walk. We get in his truck and go to the store. We buy some wood and the things Mara texted we needed. We also got some snacks and drinks.

"I still have an old fridge. We can put that in the tree house if I can get it to work" Nick says. "That's great actually. Then we have space to put all this food and drinks in" I say holding up the big bag of snacks we just bought.

We drive back to the tree house. Mara is on her phone sitting on the side of the tree house.

"We got everything" Nick says. "Plus snacks" I say showing the bag. "Good" Mara gets up and helps us with the stuff.

Mara and Nick get up the ladder. Mara takes the ladder off the tree house so I can make a new one to put up there since this one is old. Nick and Mara start renovating the tree house.

*time skip*

After 2 hours Mara's mom calls her telling her that she should come home for dinner. We clean up the mess we made and get to the cars. Me and Nick drive my house.

"This was actually fun" I say. "We got a lot done" Nick says. "I think it's really cute Mara wants to do this for Dylan" I say. "It is"

We get to my house. I get out of the car and say bye to Nick.

*a few days later*

Tomorrow is Dylans birthday. We have to do the last little things today. Me and Nick are on our way tp the tree house right now. When we get there we see that Mara is already there. We get up the ladder. Mara is outside in the sun.

"Hey bebe" I say sitting down next to her. "Hey guys" she says. "We gonna work?" Nick asks. Me and Mara nod. We start to do the last things that needed to be done. After an hour we're actually done.

"You know we should decorate it. It's a bit boring" Mara says. "True, lets go to Target" I say.

We get down and get into Nick car since it's the closest one. He drives us to target. We get some stuff like picture frames, lights and a bunch of other stuff.

"We should get snacks to. I got the fridge to work so we can get it on the way back and put stuff in it" Nick says. "Where do you wanna put a fridge?" Mara asks. "It's a small one so it'll fit perfectly between the couch and the door" Nick says. "Cool" Mara says hyped.

We grab some snacks to and pay for all of it. We then drive to Nicks house to get the mini fridge. He puts it in the back of his truck and we drive to the tree house again. Nick gets the fridge in the tree house. We put the snacks in the fridge and put down the decoration. When we're done I take a look around. It looks so cool.

I walk outside to Mara. She's drawing something in her sketchbook. Mara is really good at drawing.

"What are you drawing?" I ask sitting on the seat we made out of wood. I grab one of the pillows we bought and put it on the seat before sitting on it.

"Just something we can put on the ladder or door with like happy birthday Dylan on it" she says. "Oh yes. I didn't even think about that" I say. "What do you have?" I ask. She shows me what she has for now. "It looks good!" I say. "Really? I don't know" she says. "No you should definitely do that one" I say. "Ok" she smiles at me.

We chill for a little while before all going back to our houses.
