Hermione popped up from her bed. She needed to find the Mirror of Erised. She wanted to know if she was crazy, or kidding herself. She wanted to know if the freckled skin Hermione would ever exist, if Rosetta would ever live. Hermione felt silly, and weird.
Half of her wanted to scream at the thought of liking the horrible boy who tortured her in her youth. This half was convinced she was only missing Ron and had created the illusion of love by coincidence.
The other half wanted to blush at the thought of Draco Malfoy and wanted to live in the vision with Hermione Malfoy, or Draco Granger, and Rosetta. That half wanted to get the other half to understand that this half was reasonable.
The problem was, Hermione didn't know which half was her true heart, most logical, or even existed. And she relied her while life of fact and intelligence. This made her angry, uncertainty did. She felt determination and courage rise up inside of her. She was going to find the mirror of Erised.
She bounded across her room and picked up her bag she had dropped, tearing through it for her schedule. She had forgotten today was a half day, and options was her last class. She was thankful and held the schedule closer to her face.
Professor's meeting.
That's right! All of the teachers would be heading to a meeting in the great hall. Even the keeping like Flich, and the helpers like him. The only one to patrol all of Hogwarts starting... Hermione pulled out her enchanted watch and checked the time.... Now, would be Snape. That was an obstacle.
She pulled another piece of paper from her bag. The Marauders's map that Harry had lent her for the year. She tapped it with her wand. " I solemnly swear I am up to no good" she whispered, and the map unfolded.
Snarled footprints were still in Slytherin's common room. She looked along the walls and halls until she found were the room of requirement ought to be. It was just the first thought that came to her. The room of requirement had to help.
She folded the map up and put in in her robe pocket. She slipped sneakily out the door of the dormitory. She slipped unnoticed through the Gryffindor crowd, that was smaller than usual, and closed the portrait behind her. She could feel the Fat Lady's eyes on her as she moved through.
"And where are you going?" She asked. Hermione whipped around. "Tell no one you saw me, or I'll tell the other portraits about your encounter with the witch's wine in that one year. The fat lady covered her eyes on utter fear and surprise, and was silent as Hermione walked down the halls.
She pulled out the map as she moved silently towards the stairs. The halls were dark in favor of the big storm looming over Hogwarts.
Snape's footprints were moving now. He was by the Ravenclaw common room, and nowhere near Hermione's destination.
Her eyes flicked across the map and actually landed on Draco's dot, which was not in the Slytherin Common room, but near the Gryffindor Common room!
She had no time to be startled as she folded up the map and stuck it in her pocket. She descended up the staircase and stood in front of the empty wall.
She thought with all her might.
"I need the Mirror of Erised" she thought sternly, she opened her eyes, and saw a door.
Hermione was startled. She had not expected a door this quickly or easily. the door was different than those she had seen to the Room of Requirement, It's doors were ebony, and its Handel was chalked full of diamonds, glittering in the little light there was
She reached out her pale hand and touched the door lightly. She knew what was beyond that fancy door, and she almost dreaded to see.
She pushed the remains of her draining courage into her hand and opened the door. It didn't creak, and the room inside was very well light and bright. She felt happy to see the bright lights as she closed the door. It reminded her of home.
The walls were a pale blue and the floor had luscious carpets. it made her want to take of her shoes and dance. There was a willow desk in the corner with an ink well and pen ready on parchment, as if someone would return to write any minute.
But what caught Hermione's eyes was the base frame of a large mirror. She kept her eyes low to the ground, wanting to look up all at once.
She walked closer, her eyes trailing at the carpet, and finally drug her gaze slowly to the mirror.
Inside, instead of her reflection, was the older, tan version of herself. Wearing a sunset yellow dress and little red flats on her feet. Ehe smiled and waved every so often, and go holes escaped her lips. Beside her, stood A small two year old raising her arms to strong, Paler ones. The ones that belonged to Draco Malfoy.
