Friends to Foe

Seika's Pov

It's dawn. From Japan, we fled to the forests of the Mononoke Village. It feels like we we've been walking and running through it for hours.

"Shinra, what is this place?" I ask. In the middle of nowhere lies a small cottage with beautiful Sakura trees all around.

"This place has been abandoned since I was a kid," Shinra explains, "A year ago I decided to remodel but never got the chance to live in it. No one knows about this so it'll work out."

"Ohh, Shinra. This place looks familiar," I say, marveling at how beautiful the natural scenery is, "Why do I feel like I know this place?"

"A lot of children came to play around this area when I was younger. It was our secret hideout," He adds, "Maybe you did as well?"

"Yeah maybe I did," I answer, "Hey, we might've even played together!"

Shinra laughs and says," I think I would've remembered a stubborn girl like you."

"Hey! I wasn't always this way," I exclaim, "But you're right...I don't think I could forget a boy with hair as red as yours."

Shinra runs his hand through his hair and looking a bit flustered replies, "Yeah you're probably right."

I set my bag inside and sit on the front porch with Shinra to get some fresh air.

"Aren't you tired?" Shinra asks, "You didn't get much sleep last night."

"Yeah I am a bit," I admit, "But I love watching the sunrise! The way its warmth feels is like no other feeling."

We marvel at the sun rising through the horizon in silence. I've never been so at peace. This is a nice feeling to have.

"So what now?" I question.

"I honestly don't know," Shinra admits, "I didn't have time to think through much. All I knew was that I wanted to get you out of there."

"I really needed the change of scenery. Thank you so much." I'm so thankful for Shinra.

Shaking his head Shinra responds, "There's no need to thank me, "I'm just doing what I think is right."

I nod. I don't know what's going to happen, but we have to be ready for anything. Shinra's a traitor because of me.

"Shinra, can you tell me a bit about what happened between you and the guys?" I ask, "I woke up the next morning and you were gone...Miyabi said you guys had a disagreement."

Shinra turns to look at me, his expression becoming serious, "I asked them to end our agreement."

"You really did that?"

"Yeah," He answers, "I tried to argue that the circumstances are different now and that we owed it to you, but they didn't bulge."

I scoff at the guys' reactions, "I'm not surprised about that."

"That why I decided the best thing to do was to take you with me," Shinra explains, "You should be free to decide what you want."

"Shinra." I feel my eyes start to water up again for what seems like the hundredth time. I'm such a cry baby.

"Do you want something to eat?" Shinra asks, "I went into the village market yesterday and bought a ton of food."

"Yes! I'm starving!"

Everything happened so fast. One minute we were allies, the next I became a traitor.
