"How are you Blackkit?" Moonkit asked. It was half a moon since the Silverthorn accident, and Moonkit has been visiting Blackkit each day. Blackkit had scratches all over his body, and Amberleaf said that one of his scratches had been infected and since, Moonkit had stayed in the medicine den for the whole day, not knowing what else to do.

"Can you pass me some of that Oak Leaf that's been drying, would you?" Amberleaf meowed to Ashkit. Blah blah blah, herbs herbs herbs, what's wrong with that Ashkit? Amberleaf worked on Blackkit with the Oak Leaf. Blackkit saw the scared face on Moonkit and smoothed her with his tail.

"I'm okay. Really. I'm fine." Blackkit smoothed the white kit. Moonkit curled up on the nest with him, she had never been able to feel the pelt of him's in so long. Blackkit's soft pelt brushing against hers is something she had been dying to feel something like his for so long, but Amberleaf never allowed it. She was hoping to get a heartbeat of warmth before Amberleaf nudged her off. She didn't want to leave her brother.

Amberleaf did just as she thought, nudging her to the side, close to the edge of the nest, then picked her up by the scruff and popped her onto the floor of the medicine nest. Blackkit was treated with oak leaves and smelt like herbs.

"You want some prey?" Moonkit meowed softly to Blackkit. Though Blackkit could be annoying, Blackkit was her littermate after all, and she needed to take care of him, Moonkit could never want to leave Blackkit or Ashkit's warmth.

"Yep!" Blackkit meowed. The two littermate's noses touched, and Moonkit was padding over to the fresh-kill pile, looking for a piece of plump flesh to sink her teeth into. A vole was in sight, plump, enough to feed the three kits. She picked a mouse for Amberleaf, then carried the mouse and the vole with one tiny mouth. Padding back to the foul-smelling den. She could not believe cats could even stay in there for more than a sunrise, let alone sleeping and dedicating their lives to it!

She could not speak a thing when she entered the den and dropped the prey out of her mouth. Ashkit was sorting out the herbs, while Blackkit was sipping wet moss.

"Amberleaf, I got a mouse for you." The eyes came to her, and Amberleaf blinked a thank you before picking up the mouse, leaving the plump vole to the three kits. Silently, Ashkit nodded at Moonkit, and both padded over to Blackkit.

"Care to share?" Ashkit asked Blackkit. Blackkit did not normally share, either Ravenheart, Ashkit or Moonkit would service him by bringing some. The black-pelt kit nodded, and Moonkit sunk her first bite in, and passed on to the Ashkit. She heard pawsteps behind her, and so did the other kits. They turned there tiny heads towards the entrance. It was mother.

"How cute, my little kits sharing!" Ashkit and Moonkit shared a glance, while the Blackkit bit into the vole. This meant grooming, what a shame. Blackkit passed the vole on, and they each took a bite. Soon, the vole ended at Blackkit.

Ravenheart started grooming Moonkit, and she hated it. When she could be spending time with Blackkit, she was being groomed against her will. She could not make out what Blackkit and Ashkit were meowing about, but she bet it was better than living here being groomed to death. Why did kits need to be groomed?

"I can groom myself!" Moonkit meowed, not being able to stand the grooming. But her tired efforts to get out of her mother's grip were just not enough for a adult tongue.

"No, you can't." Her mother meowed gently. Moonpaw was trapped in her mother's paw. She could not wait until she was an apprentice when she would have to do her own grooming and not be traped by her mother's grip.

Ravenheart finally let go of the innocent kit and let her scramble off to her littermates. Moonkit broke into the meowing, and Ashkit knew it was her turn. Their mother picked up Ashkit by her scruff, and Ashkit blinked to the Blackkit and Moonkit in annoyance. The black and white cat had smug looks on their faces.

"You're so lucky, you don't need to get groomed." Moonkit meowed to Blackkit. Blackkit touched noses with the white kit. The kits curled up together, without Amberleaf knowing. All she wanted was to have a heartbeat with his brother, but Amberleaf would never allow it. She knew if she didn't get out of his nest any moment now, Amberleaf would come and nudge her off again, so she needed to stand on four paws.

They just laid there, staring at a crack of sunlight through the entrance. They have been doing this since Moonkit was allowed to visit the medicine den. She did not know what to do.

"Why don't you go listen to Mottledapple's stories?" Ravenheart suggested to Moonkit while she let go of Ashkit. Ashkit seemed annoyed by Moonkit's view. The kits would do anything to stop being groomed by their mother. Moonkit about how lucky Blackkit was to be able to avoid the annoying grooming, because of his injury, and Moonkit had to sit by him, staring at a spot of sunlight when she could be running around the clearing.

Moonkit looked at Blackkit, not wanting to leave him alone. Blackkit's encouraging eyes asked her to go, but she was not sure. Who would take care of Blackkit if she was away?

"I'll take care of Blackkit!" Ashkit squeaked. Moonkit blinked thanks and headed off to the elder's den. Mottledapple must be so lonely in a den all by himself. He sure didn't get much company, except a bunch of squeaking kits and annoyed apprentices. Or maybe dead cats that he needed to burry.

She trotted along the clearing to the elder's den, excited to see the old cat. Last time she saw him, he told a story about Tigerstar and his wicked plans to ruin the clans! She never thought a clan cat could be so brutal, even if they did not believe in Starclan.

"Moonkit, I've been looking forward to seeing you!"
