"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around the Sun Rock for a clan meeting!" Swiftstar called the clan to gather. It was the night of the gathering. The dark blue sky was filled with bright stars, with a large full moon hanging luminously in the night sky. Moonpaw padded across the clearing, finding a spot next to Blackpaw.

"As you know, tonight is the night of the gathering, as our new apprentices go to their first gathering and our new warriors go as warriors. I have announced who is going, those who are staying please guard the camp." Swiftstar announced to the clan. Swiftstar leap off the Sun Rock and headed for the entrance as her clan followed. Moonpaw's paws tinged as she padded towards the forest. She was finally going to her first gathering. For moons she had wondered what it would be like to sit under the moon, four clan cats scents mixed together while glancing up onto the leaders in peace giving information.

Sunclan headed off into the forest, though the trees covering the night sky. Moonpaw was on the side of Cloudheart, sticking closely, not leaving his side. She had heard many stories of the Great Clift, how each new leader and deputy clawed the clift making their mark.

"Are you ready?" Her mentor whispered in her ear. Moonpaw nodded, gulping at the same time. She was ready to see the other clans, and there was nothing scary about it, just nerve-wracking, her first gathering. She wanted to make some friends but she didn't know how they would act.

Moonpaw sniffed in the scents of the forest padding along with the group as she tried to remeber the path to the Great Mount. She imagined herself as leader leading the clan to the gathering. She wondered if she would ever get that far. A deputy would be great but a leader would be even better.

The clan approached the gathering. Moonpaw looked down at the Great Mount. It was high, she couldn't believed that she just climbed that whole thing. She catching her breath as the clan split apart. Cloudheart had told her to make some friends, though she didn't know how she would do that. She walked up to a group of apprentices, keeping a tail-length away before she took a breath and tried to join in.

"Hello." Moonpaw breathed. All the apprentices looked at her. Moonpaws heart was pounding, was this how it was supposed to be?

"Who are you?" A tabby meowed, politely. She felt all eyes on her, looking at her paws, trembling in fear. Why was she so scared? She was just making friends!

"M-Moonpaw." She blurted out. Moonpaw could feel the beating of her heart, it was a miracle that it didn't pound out of her chest. She looked at all the cats, feeling werid, as she wasn't the center of attention normally.

"Join us then!" The tabby cheered me on. I took one paw step closer, and the other cats nodded at me and so I joined the circle. "I'm Pebblepaw." The tabby told me. I settled down into the group and chattered along.

"How long have you been apprenticed?" A grey spotted cat asked. Her coat was sleek, and smelt like fish. Riverclan. She guessed. There wasn't any other clan that ate fish.

"This is my first Moon." Moonpaw replied. Soon after question kept coming at her.

"Who's your mentor?"

"Cloudheart."

"What clan are you in?"

"Sunclan."

"Have you seen the Sun Rock? Does the Sun actually always shine on it?"

"Yes, the Sun does always shine on it! Even at dawn."

"Do you have any littermates?"

"Blackpaw and Ashpaw."

"Where's Blackpaw? Or Ashpaw?"

"Blackpaw's with his mentor and Ashpaw is a medicine cat."

"Eww! You must hate Ashpaw's scent!" The other cats glared at the tabby, telling her to shut up. The tabby looked at her paws.

Moonpaw hung out with the other apprentices until the gathering was about to begin. She had made some friends from other clans, that was her main goal today.

"Let the gathering begin!" A white, bold leader called from the Great Clift. The Great Clift seemed like a huge rock, but more than huge. It was like another mountain on top of the Great Mount. Cats gathered neatly in clans under the Clift, the deputies making their spot on the side of the Clift. Moonpaw glanced up at the leaders, each standing proudly on the Clift. A whip of the tail from blue leader silenced the whole group of warriors.

The gathering started from the left, the first leader being a light yellow cat with barely visible stripes. Leapstar? Moonpaw guessed. The leader had the muscle in her legs, just like every other Breezeclan cat, paired with a sleek pelt.

"Prey has been good in Breezeclan, and as leaf-fall approaches, we stay strong. Our oldest senior warrior, Eagleheart, has decided to retire to the elder's den. This will be his last gathering."

"Eagleheart! Eagleheart! Eagleheart!" The clans cheered, Moonpaw enjoyed the clans all cheering together, something felt right about it.

Leapstar dipped her head to the blue leader on the right of her,  and the leader started.

"Fish have been leaping into our paws in Waterclan, and as we prepare for the cold winds ahead, we hope that the river does not freeze. We have started to hunt on the land given to us on the other end of the river." Murmurs rose around Moonpaw.

"Waterclan has started to actually hunt?"

"Will they steal our prey?"

"What if they cross the borders?"

"As a loyal clan, we will not trespass across borders!" The blue leader tried to stop the murmurs. "Most of our prey still comes from the river. Apart from that our queen, Dovepatch, has giving birth to two healthy kits, Bluekit and Stripekit."

"Dovepatch! Dovepatch! Dovepatch!" Cats chanted once more. Another whip of the tail silenced the clans. The blue leader nodded to the white leader.

"Cloudclan has been doing very well. As leaf-fall approaches, we start to face the colder winds. We will not let our clan grow weak during the harsh times!" The white leader nodded to Swiftstar

"Sunclan has been doing very well.  We celebrate three new apprentices and two new warriors." Moonpaw the next moment was her time to shine. "Moonpaw, Ashpaw, Blackpaw, Brightflame and Cinderclaw!"

Moonpaw heard her name being called out from a whole body of cats. It was more than a cat could ask for, and she was proud.
