Chapter 6

I'm back here at Elle's apartment and I'm surprised that Em hasn't called me since last night.  I wonder what she's up to.  Hmm.  I've decided to call her later. 

It's now 4pm and I had a late lunch by myself at that organic store by Union Square.  I'm just here being lazy at Elle's flat.  I've watched TV.  I read.  I even played on my cellphone and checked my emails. 

I decided to play the guitar while waiting for her.  She'll be here by 6 she said when she called me while I was leaving the organic store. 

I was playing and singing when I hear Joelle shouting when she opens the door. 

"Baby I'm home!"  Aniya then closes the door.  She looks at the dining table first, but when she hears the guitar, she looks towards my direction and smile. 

"Hi babe."  She says as she puts her bag and keys on top of the console by the foyer and walks to the living room.

"Hi." I say with a smile too.  I stand up and place the guitar on the sofa to meet her.  She kisses my cheeks and gives me a hug. 

"Sorry bes ah.  Nakialam na ko sa gamit mo."  I say apologetically and points at the guitar.

"That's okay babe."  She smiles at me and pats my left cheek with her hand.  She stands back and walks to the kitchen and opens the fridge.  She takes out a can of iced tea and offers some to me by raising the can.

I just nod my head and walk towards the kitchen.  Umupo ako sa dining chair and she did the same.  We didn't bother  to use glasses and just started drinking from the can.

"So, luv, how did the meeting with Kai go?"  She says before taking another drink of iced tea.   Medyo natigilan ako sa sinabi niya pero hindi ko pina halata.

"It went very well.   Mga two months na Lang we're ready to open na.  That is kung walang aberya."  I tell as I take another drink from my iced tea.

"That's great!  I'm so excited for you two!"  She says beaming at me as she holds my hand that's on top of the table.   I look at it and she follows my gaze.  She pats my hand a couple of times before letting go of it. 

"What time are we going out tomorrow?"  She stands up as she finishes her drink. 

"What time are you getting off work?"  I ask her back. 

"Oh about the same time today."  She quickly rinses the can in the sink with soap and water before putting it on the recycling bin.  She turns around to face me. 

"Ano ba plano?  Dinner then drinks after?"  She just looks at me habang her back is leaning against the kitchen sink.

"Ganon nga.  Why?  Do you want to do something else ba?"  I ask her smiling before drinking the last bit of my iced tea.  She thinks for a second before shaking her head. 

"Okay then.  Dinner and drinks tomorrow."   Nag lakad na siya pabalik sa living room.  "Are you not coming?"  Yaya niya sa akin.  I rinse the can as well before going to the living room and joining her. 

"Play something for me."  She gives me a shy smile while she's holding the guitar and offering it to me.  I smile and nod my head.

"Ano ba gusto mo?  I'll play pero ikaw ang kumanta okay."  We both smile at each other.  I start to strum and she starts to sing.

"Sweetie, I'm home!"  Elle shouts from the door. 

"In here!"  I shout back from her room.  The door is open, so I know she heard me.
