Chapter 9

We both wake up the next day with a slight hangover from last night's revelry. As I saunter to the kitchen to make me a cup of coffee, I see Elle swaying her hips as Find Yourself plays softly on the background. 

Like per usual every time naabutan ko siya sa kitchen na may ginagawa at oblivious sa paligid, tinignan ko siya ulit habang naka sandal ako sa entryway ng dining and kitchen. I lean my right shoulder on the door jamb as I watch her.

Napa ngiti ako sa nakita ko. She looks so beautiful and carefree kapag ganito siya.  After a beat, I push myself off the door frame and I clear my throat to get her attention. She freezes for a bit and turns around with an awkward smile.

"Good morning." She says quietly as she bows her head in I guess shame because I caught her shaking her booty to the song. She looks so adorable that I can't help the sly smile forming on my lips.

I walk towards where she is and I grab a mug and pour some coffee from the percolator. I give her my sweetest smile as I greet her.

"Top of the morning Elle. You seem perky this morning." I tell her with a smirk. I turn around holding my coffee and lean on the counter while my head turns to her to the side. She's leaning on the counter beside me as well and we stare at each other for a couple of seconds. She lowers her gaze for a bit and turns to me, coffee in hand smiling that bright smile of hers.

"Well, what can I say? I had a good night's sleep." She shrugs her shoulders before taking a sip of the hot beverage. Wait, was that in reference to our sleeping position?

No! I don't think so. I shove that thought out of my head. It's way too heavy of a thought to analyze this early in the morn.

"So, do you have plans on going to Brooklyn or you want to go around the city?" She asks as she takes another sip of her coffee.

"Uhm...I really don't have to go to the site today actually. Maybe you and I can spend time together and just walk around. I've been dying to eat Pizza at that Osteria on 27th and 10th. Then we can go to High Line Park and walk around the Chelsea area afterwards. Okay lang ba yon sa yo?" I intently look at her. She thinks for a few seconds and nods her head.

"Sure! That'll be a great way to spend the day babe. But, later we have go to the upper east side. I'm craving for some french macaron." She smiles and winks at me before walking to the direction of the dining table. She sits down facing me as she puts her cup on the table.

"Of course! You and your love-hate relationship with Ladurée. Yun lang ata ang consistent sa buhay mo besides your career." I laugh at her Kasi natigilan siya sa sinabi ko.  She gasp a little and then  pouts at me. I move and sit in front of her. Carefully drinking my coffee.  I mockingly wiggle my eyebrows at her.  She shoots me daggers as I continue to laugh.

"Stop it Del Gallego!" She points her finger at me and shakes her head. She's about to throw a mustard packet to my face when I raise my hands up connoting my surrender and that I'll stop messing with her.

"Fine. Fine." I say as I nod trying to stifle myself from laughing again. Because I know she's pikon, Lalo na I caught her, hip swaying and all. Ayaw pa naman niya napapahiya. 

"It's settled then. Lunch at that Osteria you like so much, park, Chelsea and then Upper Eastside." She says. She offers me a sandwich wrapped in foil. I take it and say my thanks and slowly open the wrapping.

The breakfast spread she prepared for today or should I say she bought from the deli across the street are breakfast sandwiches and a bowl of mixed fruit in a plastic container. Hindi na naka pág luto malamang may hangover din siguro si Elle. I think to myself.
