Chapter 4

I'm almost done cleaning the kitchen.  Rinsing the last plate as I hum the song Friend Of Mine in my head.  How apt is that song for how I'm feeling right now.  I bitterly thought to myself.  I sigh. 

Wiping the counter clean with a dish rug, I was startled by Fav.

"What was that line again?"  She asks me as I turn around and face her clasping my hand to my chest as I try to calm my raising heart.  "Ay bakla!  I say startled.

"Geez Fav!  You gave me a fright!" She laughs while walking towards me and holds my left hand with her right.

"I'm sorry bes!  I didn't mean to."  She squeezes my hand before letting it go.  Akala ko she's done laughing kasi tumalikod na siya. But hell no! Tuwang-tawa pa din ang loka-loka and she's still laughing. 

And boy, and what a laugh it is! Her laugh sounds sweet.  At least sa pandinig ko. And there goes my heart again.  Napaka erratic!  Pero her laugh is really something else.  It's not boisterous nor obnoxious.  Just playful.  Melodious even!  Stop you stupid heart!  Stop!  I scold myself.

And here I am again, staring subtlety at her.  Her gray almond-shaped eyes are so mesmerizing, lalo na kapag tinitigan ka niya. How do they call it nga? Hmm...mapungay? Yeah. Tama! Mapupungay na mga mata. I sigh inwardly.

Ewan ko ba? Pero there's a certain sexiness in those flint gray eyes of hers. Kaya madami nag kakandarapa sa babaeng ito eh.
Titig pa lang eh madadala ka na.  Especially when she eye fucks a girl and then flirts with those tantalizing eyes of her?  You'll be a goner.  You'll be eating at the palm of her hands.  Parang ako. Secretly that is.

Kainis pa, maganda na nga mata, tapos medyo may kakapalan and mahaba din her eyelashes. Not like mine, but it's pretty close. She she got her eyes from her Nona/Lola who has light gray eyes. Italian and Spanish Kasi yun.

But since she's been living in the Philippines her whole adult life, Nona/abuela/Loa Maur speaks tagalog, besides italian, Spanish and English. Bongga yung nona si Gaia eh!

She got her mestiza looks from both her mom and dad's side. Her mom's family are of Spanish and Chinese-Filipino descent. Pamilya Concepcion.  The Concepciones are into Shipping, freight and forwarding and transportation.

While her dad's side are of Spanish-Italian and Chinese-Filipino descent. Pamilyang Del Gallego.  The Del Gallegos are into Banking, Real Estate, Retail (sole distributor of luxury brands in the Philippines) and Telecommunications.

Both families are titans of their respective industries. Fav's mom handles the Concepcion Enterprise together with her mom's younger brother, si Tito Enrico.

Grupo Del Gallego's top honcho is Fav's dad. Si tito Anton. Her two younger brothers are currently being trained to handle the real estate and telecommunication subsidiaries of Grupo Del Gallego.

As for my dear friend, she's handling GDG's retail arm.  Pero later on, if she wants it, she'll be the future President and CEO of GDG when Tito Anton retires.  She's the eldest kasi. 

Surname pa lang, you'd know that they're De Buena Famila.

Kaya besides the fact that good looks run in the family, the Del Gallegos, have brilliant minds when it comes to business as well. 

Even her two younger brothers are good looking!  Saan pa ba mag mamana sila eh si Tita Lucia and Tito Antonino ay maganda at guwapo and successful tycoons pa! 

But with all the riches and power and connections, their family is so damn humble.  Walang mapag mataas.  They're simple people actually.  Walang ere.  They don't act entitled.  Paano if nag mayabang at nag matapobre sila, lagot sila kay Nona Maur (Mah-oor)!
