Erin POV
All I could see is darkness, with a light at the end of what appeared to be a tunnel. Am I on the verge of death? Again?
"Cianite! Put me back! I wasn't ready!"
I heard a deep rumbling chuckle.
"This time, it is not within your head. You have extensive physical and mental wounds. I must appear in the real world if I am to help you," the voice told me.
"Can I be conscious for like, two minutes?"
"Ha! More like 20 seconds! Even I do not have that power in this state!" He rumbled.
"I'll take it." I said firmly.
"What?" He sounded surprised.
"You heard me. I'll take my 20 seconds." I repeated.
He sighed. And then I could see.
Jordan POV
As I stumbled out of the nether portal, I noticed Erin's pulse weakening even more. "Somebody help!" I yelled.
Suddenly I was surrounded by friends. Tucker, Tom, Sonja, even the gods.
I turned to the gods. "can you save her?"
They shook their heads. Even we do not have that much power.
"Brothers, we do know someone who has power greater than us..." Ianite began, but Dianite cut her off. "No. We swore to never speak to him again."
Looking down at Erin's unmoving body, I began to break down, along with Sonja and Tucker. Tom stood there like a statue, wide-eyed, unbelieving.
Suddenly, her eyelids fluttered.
"You're alive!" I cried, crushing her in a hug.
She winced, "For now. I have 20 seconds. Summon Cianite. He can help." Then she passed out again.
Looking up at the gods, I asked, "Who is Cianite?"
Ianite frowned, "God of the Dead, also our father."
