One in a million| RINI

Sinking

"Okay, this is gonna be epic!" Red shouted. "Were just going roller skating, we could easily do that on a weekend." Ricky said, obviously annoyed.

"What's wrong with him?" Gina asked Nini. "He knows he sucks at roller skating." The two girls laugh.

All the seniors from East high were currently on a school bus on there way to a roller skating rink. The school decided to celebrate the new in-coming seniors. "Get back in your seats!" The bus driver said.

That didn't matter to Ricky or Nini since they sat right next to one another. "Look, it's a small lake!" Nini leaned in closer to the window as they pass the lake. "It's probably freezing cold." Ricky muttered.

"Bubs, cheer up, since you suck at roller skating-" He interrupted her. "I don't suck at it!" Nini laughed. "As I was saying, since you'll be having trouble skating...maybe I can..hm..what's the word?" Ricky slightly smiled.

"You just want to do something better than me and make me beg for you to help me..." Nini smiled and nodded. "Nina Salazar-Roberts, my beautiful halo, will you please help me learn to skate?" Nini laughed.

"I've been waiting to hear those words since third grade."

"Okay, remind me to never skate with Nini and Ricky, they will leave you on the floor for each other."

The group laughed at Gina and all sat down by a fountain outside. "Where's the driver?" Carlos asked, laying his head on Seb's lap. "He better hurry up, because I'm cold." Nini twisted strands of Ricky's curly hair.

"Anyone here got a hair tie?" She asked. Ashlyn pulled one out from her small backpack. "Yay!" Nini gathered a small part of Ricky's hair and pulled it into a small ponytail. "That is adorable." Seb said. Nini took out her phone from her pocket and Ricky pouted as she took the photo.

She saved it as her lock screen and showed him. "I look weird..." Nini just placed a kiss on his cheek and he immediately blushed and got shy. He pulled her into a hug. Some of the others gagged while others watched in admiration.

"I swear if this driver doesn't hurry up, I'm calling my mom to pick me up." Kourtney said. Nini laughed, "You know your mom would never come out this late at night while it's freezing."

"He's here finally!"

All the kids gather on the bus. "I want the window seat!" Ricky pouted. "Too bad, or would you rather want me and Red to swap seats?" Nini grinned.

Ricky sighed and sat down. During the whole time, laughter filled the bus. Ricky, Nini, and Gina were all playing uno until the bus drove over something and made the uno stack fall. "Great." Gina said.

"Okay kids, put your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride." The driver said. "My seat belts broken or something, it's way to loose." Nini said. Ricky tied the seat belt around her waist. "It's tight, are you trying to kill me?" Ricky laughed.

"It's the lake!"

Nini turned her head towards the lake. "Shoot-" The driver said.

The driver tried to press on the breaks but the bus ended up turning, the bus quickly filled with shouts as the bus went off the rode and into the lake. The bus started to quickly fill up with water.

Some manage to get the door open and swim to surface. Ricky was one of them, he coughed up a tiny bit of water and helped pull others out. "Call 991." He told Red as he helped Ashlyn out of the cold water. "It's 911 but okay-"

"Ricky- Ricky were's Nini." Gina asked, shivering. "She was- oh my god." It wasn't even a second later and Ricky diving back into the water. The shouts were blocked out and he dove deeper in the water. The bus wasn't all the way filled up so he still had some air to breathe in.

Windows were broken and no one was in the bus. Ricky searched and saw Nini who's body was pushed down into the seat. "Shoot-" Ricky said when he tried to untie the seat belt.

He looked around the bus and took a deep breathe before going towards the front of the bus. He took a piece of glass from a broken window and swam back to Nini. The bus had no more air so he had to hurry.

He tried to cut the seat belt and accidentally cut his hand. He ignored the sharp pain and kept trying. When it worked, Nini's body lifted up and he grabbed her. He was running out of oxygen and his vision started to become blurry.

He made it up to the surface and in the distant was sirens. "Oh my god-" They helped lift Nini up out of the water and onto the ground. Ricky got out of the lake and rushed toward Nini.

Red was holding Ashlyn in his arms and Gina had already started crying. "Carlos go see how far the ambulance is." Seb said.

Ricky checked to see if Nini was still breathing and his stopped when he heard nothing. He immediately tried CPR and performed rescue breathes. He continue the steps until Nini coughed out a load of water. "Nini." Ricky brought her into a hug.

"Over here!" They heard Carlos shout from a distant. Nini had now been unconscious and Ricky just held her tight. They had lifted her up onto a stretcher and Ricky ignored their request and got in.

There were still ambulance trucks making their way to the sight. Ricky hissed at the pain and look at his hand and saw a massive cut. He just ignored it and held onto Nini's hand.

"Ricky where is she?" It was Nini's moms. They arrived at the hospital and Ricky called them. "They took her somewhere, it's been like 10 minutes..." "Have you called your dad?" Ricky shook his head. That wasn't what he was worrying about right now.

Ricky's head turned when he saw Nini's doctor come out of a room. He dashed towards him. "Where is she? Is she okay?" Nini's moms rushed toward them. "She's fine, thanks to you she's alive, she's stable and is resting, now we just wait till she's awake." Ricky sighed in relief.

"You should get that checked out." The doctor said, looking at Ricky's hand. "Mrs. Lucas can you help this boy please?" Before Ricky could protest, he was taken away by a nurse.

His hand had been done getting wrapped in a bandaged when he saw Gina rushing in with her mom. "Is she okay?" Ricky nodded. Gina had noticed tears in his eyes and his hand and gave him a hug.

"Don't worry, knowing Nini when she wakes up, she's gonna be telling everyone she survived death." Ricky laughed.

"Where are the others?" He asked. "Seb is probably with Carlos having a panic attack, and Ashlyn and Kourtney had to go home." He nodded.

"Ricky, she's awake." He heard from Nini's mom and the two rushed into Nini's room. She had a small cut under her eye and she still looked tired. A faint smile appeared on her face when she saw the two.

Ricky brought her into a hug. "I'm so sorry, it was my fault, you told me the seat belt was too tight and I should have loosened it but I was worried because the ride was bumpy and I thought you were behind me b-but you weren't and I-" "Ricky!" She interrupted.

He looked at her. "I'm fine, I suck at swimming anyways so something was gonna happen." She joked but he didn't laugh. "Hey, you okay?" Gina asked and Nini nodded.

"I still won the uno game though." She said and Gina just smiled. "I'll leave you two alone..." Gina said quietly.

Nini noticed his hand and grabbed it. "What happened?" She asked. "It doesn't matter, I'm not the one in a hospital bed." Ricky sighed. "Don't do that- I'm fine and if I have died at least I could have spied on a bunch of people and haunt my algebra teacher."

Ricky smiled. Nini scooted over and patted the seat next to her. Ricky laid down on the mattress and wrapped his arm around her and she put her head on his chest.

"You know, if almost dying means we get to cuddle more, I'm all for it."
