The Three Lanes

Chapter Two

He walked towards her as she moved away from him till her back was against the wall, she felt trapped, he reached confidently and held her head, pressed and rubbed his fingers on her ears and kissed her lips so hard that the urge she had to resist him vanished.

The kissing was so intense they could easily have lost touch of time and space; he withdrew, saw that her eyes were still closed, smiled and whispered her name softly, when she opened the big green eyes he yanked her off her feet into his arms and started towards the main bedroom and slowly dropped her on the large bed.

Caleb took off his grey t-shirt and she got up to caress his chest gently, then laid her head to listen to his heart beat so fast, pulled her hair back and tied it up with a band, looked him in his eyes so deeply while he tore off her favorite blouse to pieces.

Before Christina could blink, her brassiere was already unhooked and she felt bare but his kiss was so comforting that her brain was caught up in the moment as he started his licking and fondling journey towards the blessed parts of her body.

He got up from playing with her belly button and told her, "memorize this moment". She got busy removing both her pants unbuckling his belt and pants then lied back to offer him his one lane of happiness, knowing she has yet learnt to love anyone as much as she does this man.

Caleb took her in slowly, observing the spectacular shape of her hips and pushed apart her thighs so that he could enter her and suddenly it felt different, he heard his name being called out loudly by Christina and a soft but rushed tap on his head and shoulder, he felt the urge to open his eyes. "Oh shit"

"Good morning to you too" she said out loudly, it took him a minute to gather himself off his sleeping location and mutely headed to the toilet to freshen up, thought about his dream once more, shook his head then came back and poured himself some coffee. He looked at her suspiciously and took a sip, looked around, turned and saw her staring "what?"

"Nothing, I just need updates on the case" she replied and came closer to his face, he breathed her in and started, "investigation was done and it was established you were the target, not me and also the sniper was using a 50 caliber automatic sniper rifle, which has a maximum range of 2km and bullets the size of a finger."

"The ballistics department compared the position of the firearm and the location of the bullet dug out of the wall and they seem to think that the sniper was overcome with a certain emotion as he may have moved the gun a bit when he took the shot so as to not hit you but still make it feel like a warning shot to both of us or just one of us."

"Sometimes I get frustrated at the agency, we have all the resources and manpower but I feel like not knowing who targeted us as me failing myself, my marriage and my life altogether." He sat down and buried his face in his hands, Christina came to him from behind and put her hands on his chest and told him, "Be thankful that you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn."

He turned to face her and asked how shes healing physically as she suffered uterine fibroids, thus not allowing them to have intercourse for 6 months, it can be frustrating for married couples, but these two have been through a lot including getting shot at after taking a slow walk from the hospital to their car.

She assured him they had only two months to worry about, as one month she spent in the hospital doing tests, surgery and recovery and three in protective custody, but he assured her he will give her one more month for exercise before fulfilling her marital right.

His phone rang and he picked it up, his face changed when the other side informed him that "shambugu was seen in the city", when he hanged up, she knew he had to go so she whispered, "I will still love you when I see you again." Caleb turned to face her and replied, "I loved you from the first moment I saw you," then kissed her so intensely and when she returned his kiss, felt the earth get swept away from under her feet, her soul was no longer in her body, she imagined touching the stars as right there at that very moment, she knew the happiness of angels.

Caleb was back at the office in less than an hour, asking where the suspect was spotted in the city, he entered the board room to gather with the analysts who were feeding him information concerning his investigation, he asked them some questions and they discussed the best solution to their present problem.

Shambugu is an assassin, who works for a Mafioso leader named Eric Roberts, he's among the people suspected to have ordered the shooting at the hospital parking lot. Caleb listened to the radios and then collaborated with the local police to lead a search on the location the suspect was last seen.

They reached the location after some minutes but didn't catch him there which made him more frustrated, thus the reason he lied to his wife giving her complicated information so that she doesnt give her much hope considering it's been hard enough catching people who are good at disappearing acts.

Meanwhile at the university, Gabriel was having lunch with some friends when he received a text from his mother to arrive home earlier than usual; this got him puzzled, he called her and inquired if she was well or having some mental or physical problems. She assured him all was well and that she just needed to have a talk with her sons when they got home, he agreed with her and hanged up to get back to his friends.

He texted his lady friend to be ready by 5pm so that he gets to drop her then head home to hear what's on his mother's mind. After class they met up then decided to go get some snacks and refreshments with their friends, by the time he was heading home it was nearly 9pm.

As he was driving inside their large compound he noticed a black Mustang next to his mother's sophisticated Knight Luxury Maybach, parked his car and sat there for a minute or two then turned off the stereo and locked it. Caleb came in behind him, did the same and asked, "What's up with mum and encrypted texts?" he just looked at him confused and replied, "First let's find out who that car belongs to."

The two brothers walked in the door together and the silence hit them, they got worried fast that something may have happened to their mother as they were asked to come in earlier than the present moment, suddenly Adrianna called out to them and their heart beats restored back to normal.

"I think I taught you to be punctual, but it seems you need a lesson reminder for that" she shouted from the other room, "I was running an investigation, thus dint have an exact time to have wrapped it up" Caleb defended himself.

Gabe whispered to his elder brother, "I'm heading up to drop stuff and take a shower, be back in a minute" he got to his room, put the bag and keys on the table and while taking a shower it hit him that he has yet to ask to whom the car outside belongs. Getting off the washroom in a hurry, he heard his mum call out his name loudly and he got downstairs looking fresh and sat next to his brother on the table.

Gabriel looked around and noticed that there were 4 plates and 4 soup bowls on the table and looked at his big brother and mum and smoothly asked "are we expecting any company?" "No" replied Caleb and after some seconds of silence, Adrianna looked up at all of them with a tear in her eye and calmly announced that in their house right at that moment was an assassin watching them, his name is Atticus and works for Mr. Eric Roberts.
