The Three Lanes

Chapter Ten

Two or three hours before the sad events, Caleb had asked Christina to renew their vows together and she agreed to it because the last two weeks had been awesome, so they hit a marriage place in the city and they rented a dress and tux and did it formally.

Caleb paid for a restaurant to be made private for just the two of them and got a young lady who could play a violin stand next to their table and play her favorite tunes for like ten to twenty minutes; he didn't want to do too much. The restaurant put on some special lights that reflected on the walls with shapes of hearts and stars, also they made a pathway of red roses from the door to their table.

After dinner they had gone back to their suite and started making sweet love, after they were done they were interrupted by the phone call and the news report. As he was packing, he decided not to bring her back from Dubai as he didn't want to lose focus on what he was about to do.

Christina agreed to stay if only he promised to call every day, he was reminiscing on the plane about the day's event as he closed his eyes as he knew that he needed his rest all the way back home where everything had just exploded, gone haywire and all agents had been called in to work on the "payback mission."

Nathaniel was in shallow sleep when Adrianna called him to ask him to put on his television and know what's happening, "Holy shit, I didn't know they were targeting the agency, let me call you back mom." He tried calling his girlfriend couple of times but it went to voice mail, he picked his helmet up and took his bike all the way to the explosion scene.

He surveyed from the roof, read the label on the ambulances and knew which hospital Caitlin might be at if she made it, if not then but he didn't want to think of it, so he rode all the way to the hospital, looked through the manifest at the help desk and located her, "Thanks to the Almighty!"

Caitlin had some bruises and cuts and some broken ribs, but she wasn't affected by the explosion as she had managed to crawl out of the building after calling her superior thus avoided any major injuries to her body. She was sedated heavily and couldn't have opened her eyes when he walked in, he managed to control his breathing then called his mum back, "Hi, have you spoken to Caleb?" he asked worryingly.

Adrianna answered in the negative and then he said, "He's so going to kill me, I was so absorbed into training Gabriel that I didn't collaborate with the squad and could have informed him earlier and prevented this, it's all because of me, this is my mistake, I will take care of this."

She assured him that the fifteen people who had died did so because of his general and not him, he felt a tone on the machine indicating his girlfriend's heart was beating, he hanged up and held her hand and whispered, "Everything is going to be alright honey."

Gabriel heard someone knock on the door yet his eyes were struggling against him, he had to force them open. "Mum, what's wrong?" he asked getting off bed quickly, "there has been an attack on the agency, put on your television" she replied.

"Holy shit, this is bad real bad; I'm glad Caleb is in Dubai and no one got injured in our family, Mom we have to act swift and end our revenge mission for our family and loved ones, I need to know why they organized this hit on the Agency, let me call Nate." When he didn't pick up he told his mum, "I'm sorry but I have to go back to bed please, will talk in the morning." they could hear her footsteps disappear around the corner.

Natasha was in bed and aware of what's happening and he told him, "Dude, what's going on with you and your matriarch? I was lost for words," picked up the remote and pressed power off. He chuckled and got into bed knowing what he saw on the news that there were fifteen people dead and some injured and felt that there was going to be some nasty business in the morning.

Adrianna received a voice mail in the morning from Caleb, "Hello mum, how's you? You can send the funds now for the Dubai mansion, I'm sending Christina there once its ready, I don't want her involved in the chaos back home, call me when you get this."

She scrolled through her contacts and called her financial adviser, "Hi, is the shell company and account ready? I need to purchase something valuable." "The company and account is confirmed, just text me the account number and amount I'm supposed to deposit then will send you the e-receipt" he replied.

"Hello Caleb, I need purchase details; account and amount as soon as possible," she said when her call went straight to voice mail, knowing he was still on the flight back home or at the Agency. Suddenly she heard a car come into the compound and she checked her phone, saw it was Nate and was a bit relieved.

Nathaniel came in and hugged his mum and asked, "is he here yet?" she shook her head and told him, "don't worry about it you will need to share some information to get him off your back, go wake your lazy ass brother and tell him not to sneak Natasha out, we are having breakfast together today."

Gabriel was tickling his girl when he heard a calm knock at the door, "Yes? Doesn't anyone know how to use a mobile phone these days?" he lashed out. "You can always ignore my call but when I'm standing outside the door you know it's important plus mom says tell Natasha she can come down for breakfast." He smiled knowing it was his brother and started laughing out loud seeing the look on his girlfriend's face.

They all came down for breakfast and Adrianna greeted Natasha well and told her she's always welcome to use the front door and not Gabriel's window which caused a bit of awkwardness around the room. She then asked on the progress of their training which Nate confirmed that there was, "good progress and better results."

Breakfast went well and Nate had to go to the compound and celebrate with his people and know what the next part of the plan was, the general was excited to see him and they toasted to their success. Gabriel and Natasha had the talk where she got all the open truth about his family's past and what plans they have for their future; the part where they plan to leave once all is done.

She was left a bit confused to decide if she wanted to stay or leave with her lover and start a new life somewhere else, Gabe saw this confusion on her face and told her not to rush into a decision until she's sure it's what she wants.

The Agency was surrounded by fire fighters, ambulances and media vans when the field agents arrived at another safe and secure floor led by Caleb Harrison, the mood was off for everyone and they were going to do everything to retaliate the attack.

The deputy director walked in the room and greeted them, "Tensions are high, people are worried about their safety, my phone has been ringing all morning; we cannot let Shambugu and his henchman stay breathing after orchestrating such a heinous attack on this facility."

"I have briefed the Director and the Commanders on the damage caused, the data stolen and called in for reinforcements so we need to deal with this today, read your mission notes and get prepared, if that's all, I need to see you outside Caleb." He finished his empowering speech then left with Caleb following.

"I need the name of your source who has been helping you with this case" he pressed Caleb to which he replied, "I protect my sources sir, I can't just reveal him to you I'm sorry."

He pulled his gun on Caleb and said, "Don't make me ask you the same question twice boy."
