"Okay, don't panic. Stay here (y/n), we'll deal with this." They all got up and walked toward the front, and I lingered shortly behind. I squinted my eyes to try to make out the figure walking towards us. Wait, is that...
"Johnny!" I ran towards him.
"Seems like you were forgetting something." He handed me my phone. "And something else." He dangled my bracelet in front of my eyes. I gasped.
"I totally forgot about that! Thank you so much."
Harry came behind me. "What does he want?"
"He just came to return my phone and bracelet. I forgot to tell you - he's the reason we were able to escape."
Harry scoffed. Why is he being so hostile?
"Is that it, Johnny?" Harry asked.
"I guess that'll be all for now. Are you okay (y/n)?"
"Thanks to you. I don't know how I could ever repay you."
"You don't need to - it wasn't anything."
"Were James and Coy cross that you faked the injury?"
"I just told them I was in shock and mistook a scrape for a wound. No big deal." I smiled. Harry just looked at him expectantly - almost defensively.
"Well if that's all, I'll be off now. Let you catch up."
I walked closer to him and gave him a hug - the only way I knew to repay someone who wouldn't take anything from me. What? It's a usual Auradon practice... but it probably isn't one on the Isle. "I really am thankful Johnny. Sorry for Harry, I have no idea why he's acting like that." I made sure to say it quiet enough so that Harry couldn't overhear.
He smiled at me - the first time I'd seen this expression in him - and walked away.
The rest of us walked back to the ship. "Harry, why were you so cold towards Johnny?"
"(Y/N), he's one of the pirates who kidnapped you. There's no way I'm accepting him until I get some solid proof he's not rotten." Deep down I was like that's so sweet - but on the outside, I held my stance.
"Yea, but he jumped in when James was trying to kiss me, and he unlocked the door and made the distraction for us to leave. Isn't that proof enough? Plus, he brought back my phone and my bracelet - something James seemed to want desperately. If the rest was just an act, why would he return my stuff?"
"I don't know - but it doesn't hurt to be careful. We saw what happened when I left you last night."
"Still, you don't need to be that overprotective of me. I can handle myself." What he was saying may be caring and all, but I don't want this to be a regular thing. I can fend for myself without Harry deciding what - or who - is dangerous or not. He didn't reply.
"Anyways," I continued, "You're Gil - I remember you from that fight on Uma's ship! I'm (y/n)."
"Yea, I know. Harry made it a point to bring you up in every conversation we've had in the past two days." He did? Maybe I'm being too hard on him because of that dream - nightmare - I had. I shouldn't give him a hard time for something he didn't do.
"Be quiet Gil - don't listen to him (y/n) - he doesn't seem to be able to keep a private conversation private."
"Loosen up Harry - god, falling in love has really changed you." Gil made a heart with his hands and looked at me and Harry. I blushed for real this time. He's in love with me?
"Seriously stop." Harry looked at Gil - I didn't see the expression on his face.
Harry left my side and went to Gil. He whispered something in his ear.
"The dress is a good fit on you, you should keep it." Uma filled the gap Harry left.
"Thanks, but I couldn't. I bet it would look way better on you anyway."
"Are you serious? No ways. You're keeping it - that's final. Consider it a 'thanks for always being so nice to me' gift."
"Fine, but in that case, I'm going to find something to give you back!"
We were back at the ship and began to eat.
"Hey, what's that?" Harry asked.
"What's what?"
"On your wrists." I pulled down the sleeves on the dress.
"It's nothing."
"No it isn't. Show me." I pulled the sleeves back up to reveal a bright red ring of rope burn on both of my wrists. It's worse than I thought.
"That's not good." I heard Uma say.
"I could just go to James right now and punch him in the face." Harry was holding my wrist in his hand.
"That's not necessary - I'm fine, I barely feel it." I lied. The truth is, it stung hard when I was washing my hands earlier. But it's not a big deal.
"Let me get something for it." Harry went into his Dad's office. He brought back cloth bandages and a clear sticky ointment which I neatly applied. I tied the bandages around my wrists with Uma's help.
"This is making it feel worse - oh it burns."
"It's supposed to. It'll feel better in a bit." I heard footsteps approaching. Who's it this time??
"Harry, where is she?" I could recognize that dominating voice anywhere. Mal.
I don't really know what to say - sorry this chapter was kinda short? Next week's is (in my opinion) really interesting and decently long, so it evens up - make sure to tune in next week. See you then :)
