Your POV
I went up to the infirmary. I felt like I was in a trance. Everything I had prepared for, and thought to be true, all got solved in a matter of minutes. My bracelet had magic all along, but why did it only work when he was leaving? And what if it didn't? Will Harry be normal when I meet him?
The lady who seemed to be heading his case told me he was absolutely fine, he just came in a bit winded. I was relieved. There was so much that could have gone wrong.
I slowly entered the baby blue room to see him lying on the hospital bed, eyes closed. I couldn't tell if he was asleep or just relaxing, but my question was answered in seconds.
His eyes shot open as he gave me a warm smile. "(Y/N)."
"Harry." I walked over. We just stared at each other for a while.
I didn't know what to say, so I began with the most basic of questions. "How are you feeling? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm absolutely fine. Thanks to you. What about you? It couldn't have been easy on your side either."
"I was a bit low on energy at first, but I'm doing good." I assumed he was talking about the aftermath of the magic, and not the...everything else.
It was silent. I didn't expect it to be so hard to make conversation. There was too much to address and neither of us wanted to be the first to bring it up.
"So..." He started.
"So...?"
He laughed. "So you have magic?"
I bit my lip. "Um, yeah, I guess I do."
"That's amazing, who would have thought?" He went on and on raving about the possibilities.
I cut in, not being able to ignore the more important matter for any longer. "Is that really the most pressing issue at hand, Hook?"
He went silent and just stared at me for a second. Then sarcastically chuckled, "Wow, that's convenient."
I was confused. "What do you mean by that?"
"You just called me Hook."
"I know I did, it just came out. What's the big deal?"
"That's the first time you've ever called me Hook."
"It was just reflex."
He sat up. "Exactly." I looked at him, unsure what he was getting at. He went on. "Isn't it funny that suddenly, your instinct was to call me Hook, and not Harry?"
"You call me (y/n) and princess interchangeably so I don't understand what the problem is."
"That's entirely different. The problem is that Lydia spelled me, I acted horridly, and now you called me Hook without even thinking about it. Hook. See, when someone hears the name Harry, what do they think of? Maybe a bucket full of dinosaurs. Or the boy who lived. But that's it. It's just a name. Now Hook is different. You hear the family name Hook and you think of one of the most maniacal, wicked villains there ever was. You called me Hook, because some part of you still doesn't believe that I had no role in this scheme."
"That's not true! Harry," I took an extra second to make sure I called him that, "you're usually proud of your father, and want everyone to know whose son you are. What changed?"
"I realized he was a villain, and villains are not role models. Villains ruin people's lives."
"But he's still your father. Either way, I'm sorry for calling you Hook. I didn't know you were so changed."
"I'm just conflicted right now, the spell took a bit of a toll on me. You didn't answer truthfully before though - I know you well enough to understand. You changed the topic fast - fast enough that you were hoping I wouldn't pursue it anymore."
