"Explain yourselves" Kukola demanded from them.
"We were practising and got a bit carried away and..." Kulo began but was abruptly stopped when extra force was used to pull his poor ear which was in the clutches of his grandmother.
"Ooowww"
"That is what you get for tardiness and did I ask you to speak?"
"But grandmama you said to explain ourselves didn't you,is your memory that bad you just said it a few seconds ago"
"Silence child!, and you!" Kukola addressed Kona with a hot stare and my oh my could it definetly start a fire for a good meat roasting "Do not dare think that you are a safe you have some explaining to do to your mama young prince."
Kona believed the only reason Kukola did not have his ear in her bony hand for a good twisting was because she needed her other hand for holding herself up with her cane or else she would fall over. The other was currently busy with a nice and soft little ear. Poor Kulo...
"Kukola, allow me to apologise, what Kulo says is true we got a bit carried away and were more delayed when we met some people at the well, you must understand that our unforgivable tardiness was not at all intentional..."
"You are right"
"I am?"
"He is?"
Both the princes asked in unison.
Kona couldn't help but be suprised at how easy it was to get Kukola to agree with him let alone in a slip up! Kona on the other hand looked really hopeful, 'Finally my poor ear will get it's freedom.'
" Your tardiness is unforgivable, you said so and it is very true therefore I cannot help but tell you that you are most definitely right young prince. So what punishment do you think is just for your unforgivable tardiness?"
Kona mentally face palmed himself for his naiveness. He should have known, since when was it ever easy to work with Kukola?
Just then their Mama appeared from behind their hut carrying a tray with several steaming food pots. It was food for the King Okwaba. Just like the other wives she was on her way to the grand hut to give her food to her husband and king as was the tradition in Ikonga. She stopped in her tracks when she saw the scene before her.
She glared at her sons.Oh how she wanted to get her hands on them, give them an earful and some ear twisting too especially the little one who promised her they would be more than early and on time for the evening meal.Kulo knew he was adored so much but why did they have to express it so strangely? it was spanking and scolding and ear twisting for him. Whatever did he do wrong?
"Not you too Mama" Kulo whined.
Kona was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the dissapointed look his mother was giving him after she shifted her gaze to him. He wasn't used to this new position, it was usually him, mama and Kukola against Kulo not like this.
"Mama I can explain...." His mother held up a hand while balancing the tray perfectly with the other.
"You shall explain yourself when I am back, unlike you I actually take time as something of the essence! I would not want to be late" and with that she left the and made her way to the grand hut leaving behind two guilty feeling boys well atleast one of them, Kulo was used of these situations and one grinning old woman.
" I told you she would be very angry and dissapointed" Kukola said with satisfaction and let go of Kulo's ear.Kulo immediately started rubbing his ear.
"Grandmama, you never said such a thing. I clearly remember..."
"Silence child!"
