"Sshhhh..." Kona lifted a finger and turned to the girl next to them.

Kulo abruptly seized his banter with Kona and they both froze looking at the girl. The girl next to them was shifting and began muttering. She fluttered her eyes and then her breathing picked up and became more erratic. Kona was the first one to inch closer and slowly crouched over her. She was gripping and tearing at her shoulder where the dagger wound should have been as if trying to pull out an imaginary dagger.

Soon her eyes flew open and besides the fact that they were the most striking and alluring eyes Kona had ever seen, believe it or not, a wild cat's eyes couldn't be scarier. Panic and rage mingled on her beautiful face and her eyes frantically danced around, the minute they settled on Kona, she pounced.

She lunged forward and hit Kona catching him at the base of his neck. Him, being totally and utterly unprepared was thrown on his back. The girl used this chance to jump and straddle him picking the nearby stake Kona was using to poke the fire and holding it at his neck. All the unspoken words were clear in her eyes. They might as well have been yelled in his face.

Make one move, I dare you and it will be the last thing you do.

Regardless of having a sharp stake digging into his skin and accurately positioned above a major blood vessel, Kona couldn't help being impressed. The girl's movements were noticeably fast, lightning-fast putting some warriors he knew to shame and her blows....oh dear she delivered without hesitation, an admirable quality in any fighter both experienced and young. The fact that they were sure to leave a dark ugly bruise was in no way left out.

Now about her blows, the one she so generously gave Kona had begun throbbing and so he shifted his hand to reach for it. The mere movement of tensing his muscles to move his hand had the wooden pike digging deeper into his skin and the girl's narrowed her eyes at him. So she could predict moves too? remarkable. Just what he needed when he was planning to free himself in a surprise throw-off.

He opened his mouth to say something but the stake was pressed even further into his neck.

Don't even think of calling anyone, her eyes spoke.

This was getting out of hand. Just slight more pressure and he would have a fatal hole in his neck which would result in him bleeding to death faster than he could say ouch. He had better try a different approach with her if he was having plans of living past this day.

An idea came to his mind and he held on it like a lifeline. He looked into her eyes and opened his mind to her. He displayed all his intentions to her, true as they were and tried to show her that he meant no harm whatsoever. The moment was intense and the battle within her was evident as she read his thoughts. He took the time to look at her beautiful eyes as the emotions played on her face. In the end, her grip began loosening and her eyes relaxed from their lethal stare. Something flashed in her eyes but it didn't miss Kona. She was, how could he put it...scared? and what was it, conflicted with herself? but above all, she had begun to understand.

Kulo smiled. It was working.

Their gazes were still locked and it was as if they were in a spell of some sort. Whatever it was, it ended when the girl slightly widened her eyes, lost focus and dropped on top of Kona and in her place revealing a certain grinning boy with a sizeable log in his hands patting it well done.

He had hit her?...unconscious?!

It took a while for the information to process in Kona's mind. When it did, he glowered at Kulo and was practically seething from the anger and annoyance radiating off of him. The grin immediately bled off Kulo's face and while gripping his log, Kulo prepared himself to make a run for it. The sight was so comical.

He gulped, shifting uncomfortably on his feet. Nervously he stated. "Something tells me, despite saving your life, you are going to do exactly what she did but only this time you will finish the job."

With that said, Kona's hand shot forward and grabbed Kulo by the neck bringing him to eye level before the poor boy even made a move.

Poor Kulo.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't throw you in the river for the crocodiles to feed at night." Kona's voice dropped several octaves and lowered even more towards the end. Deadly was what was dripping from his tone.

Kulo swallowed. Was Kona half-joking half-serious? He was definitely leaning towards the latter without the half, of course, making Kulo squirm and chuckle nervously.

"We were almost close to earning her trust, you hairless monkey! and you had to go and ruin it all. Now she will definitely think we want to harm her." He let go of Kulo and the poor boy rubbed his neck begrudgingly muttering you're welcome.

Kona lifted the girl and carried her to her previous sleeping spot. He noticed how light she was. For someone who could fight like her, her build should have been heavier. He couldn't help but dread what she would do once she woke up. This time she had enough reason to attack and do significant damage. Looking down at her, Kona had no doubt she would do it with little to no problem at all. She did not seem like one to mess with.

But this time Kona was going to be prepared. "Find me some vines we can use as ropes"
