Kulo couldn't deny the fact that the girl was beyond scary. There was just something about her that made him want to shiver and keep his distance. Not once did she speak also but it didn't mean her actions weren't as loud.
Kona had left him in charge while he went out to scout the area just to look for any signs of anyone who abandoned the girl or was after her. She had looked scared for a reason. Was someone following her maybe? He had to be sure and hopefully... do something about it.
Kona had threatened Kulo not to do anything stupid while he was away. Kulo promised him not to, but surely Kona didn't think he'd actually listen to him right? He was Kulo. He had to do something to at least bend the rules. It was his life goal. Not having a bit of joy now and then was a crime. Certainly, utter complete crime.
And right now he wanted to have some fun with her. The girl who scared her like nobody else, more so than the sinister Kukola. Seeing Kukola clean her scanty teeth open-mouthed or yawn was not as scary as this girl.
His naughty mind was already reeling with ideas. First on the list was to persuade her to eat the bits of fish Kona prepared. Kona had fixed her a small dish of fish which he roasted and took the bones out. He placed them on a leaf for her to eat and treated them with special herbs to add flavour.
Kulo planned that after she ate he would convince her it was fish poop or insect poop, whichever was better, no whichever was more disgusting. The look on her face would be priceless.
Yes!
Master plan!
Or maybe climb on a tree and spill some water on her to make her think someone was peeing on her, but no, the smell wouldn't be right. It needed to be something stinky. An idea came into mind...the green beetle. Crash it and the smell would be unbearable. Place it in water and behold it was a remedy to chase away even roaches. The smell was putrid. Kulo snickered. Uuuuhhh he was so excited!
Perfect.
Time to hunt for green beetles...
And so he did, just below the fern leaflets next to the river he found what he was looking for. He carefully took two and cupped them within his palms. This should be enough.
Oh this was gold. He was bubbling with excitement now. It was sad no one appreciated his mastery. Maybe this girl would. Only one way to find out.
He searched around him for a sunken vessel. Anything that could accumulate water. His eyes landed on a curved piece of bark which was shell-like. He snatched it from the ground and checked for holes. He didn't want any water to spill. It would ruin the plan, the current master plan not the other one. This was it. He scurried to the river and scooped some water then he prepared his concoction. He had to cover his nose throughout.
He slowly climbed the tree with his concoction in hand, holding it dearly. When he was settled on a comfortable branch, he let go of a breath he was holding. Making himself more comfortable, he suddenly lost balance and had to grab the branch with both hands.
You know what they say... He who tries to hold two things in one grasp is bound to lose one. Kulo dearest had to let go of his beloved concoction, his masterpiece.
Noooooo.
His eyes widened as he stretched an arm to reach for it. This was not part of the plan. With despair he watched the contents spill and unfortunately for him, miss his target.
Crap!
'I need another plan. Maybe this wasn't diabolical enough'
He caught movement in the trees and saw a group of monkeys. They could help but then how would he be able to communicate to them. He wasn't an animal whisperer like their half brother Jefado or even just a bird whisperer like his twin sister Kuli. It seemed as though everyone was getting special gifts early in the family except for him. He always wondered what his would be. He just hoped his would be the most special of all special gifts.
One of the monkeys left the group and started walking towards him slowly and cautiously as if studying his moves. Kulo just remained calm also studying the monkey. It reached out and poked his nose. He just giggled. The monkey withdrew his leathery finger as if startled. Kulo giggled again and the monkey eyed him. Then it started poking him in a frenzy all awhile Kulo laughing.
The monkey seemed to find Kulo interesting, it glanced down and noticed the sleeping girl. She was just like Kulo hairless like him. Did she want to play too? Kulo seemed to understand and pointed down a finger to the girl, nodding while beaming.
The monkey looked down then glanced back at Kulo as if asking for assurance. Kulo bobbed his head up and down. The little fellow made it's journey down the tree swiftly, jumping and swinging on the tree branches. All a while Kulo held his breath in silence and crossed his fingers hoping the monkey would do something absolutely horrible.
It seemed like forever, the monkey inched closer but kept hesitating. Did she really want to play?
Impatient Kulo was eagerly anticipating for some action. Then the monkey turned it's behind and tried to sit on the girl's face. Before it landed, it jumped up quickly and run a few feet away. It turned back to gauge the girl's reaction. Up there Kulo was struggling to hold in his laughter. Then with more determined steps it walked to the girl and licked her.Let's play.
Poor monkey didn't expect the ear splitting scream that followed. Was this how humans reacted? He didn't want to play with them anymore and immediately ran off to play with it's other friends.
The look on the girl's face had Kulo laughing uncontrollably. And the scream? Priceless.
Not so tough anymore are was she. She screamed just like any other human. She didn't look so scary then.
It also had Kulo wondering how she liked frogs.

Guys I can't wait to reveal to you Kulo's special gift. It will totally surprise you. I gotta be honest I would also be surprised. I'd be like...
What? Kulo? That power? I don't want to believe you. Nah-uh...
Ha ha ha...anyways I bet you didn't know Kulo had a twin sister and that the princes had a half brother. I'm excited to meet them. And about those green beetles it's actually true. They do exist. At least where I'm from. LOL. Believe me they smell really bad.
