~Judy's POV~

It's been a full week since Nick had asked me to move in with him. During my debation some things have happened since then and some haven't. In terms of how our relationship is going, Nick has started to adopt a very chivalrous behaviour... Little things here and there like opening the door of the police cruiser for me and arriving at my apartment some mornings presenting a bouquet of roses or orchards. I didn't really have a vase or anything like that to put them in so I had to resort in leaning them against the wall on my desk instead but it was very sweet of him all the same. I can tell he's really trying to make an effort!

He's told me before that going 'solo' was his thing and always has been in his life. He didn't have time for romance when he was hustling and making money everyday and the only partner he needed was a business partner; Finnick. That may sound surprising however I can understand where he was coming from. He must have adopted the same mindset I used to have too; work comes first. Maybe we weren't so different after all. Although all of this is out of his comfort zone, his natural charm and smooth personality seems to be working to his benefit that he supposedly uses as a ladder to help reach his new found 'boyfriend' identity.

I myself had one boyfriend before going to the police academy...and it didn't really end well. He was too emotionally closed off for my liking and we were too similar. I guess I've always secretly wanted someone of a different species to date. Nick being the opposite, as expressive as he can get, really makes my heart thump. With Nick my needs are totally met. Except for one thing... we haven't had our first kiss yet.

As childish as that sounds, I've been thinking about it a lot. But I manage to keep that nonsense stored at the back of my mind during work. Speaking of work, right now me and Nick are patrolling around certain neighbourhoods and waiting for any emergency calls. At the moment I have stepped out onto the sidewalk to write a fine for a poor mammal that looks to have miss-parked on the side of the road. As I'm doing this, Nick seems to think it's funny to alert the, very loud may I add, police siren bleep multiple times as I'm writing, making me jump out of my fur every time.

"I swear Nicholas if you do that again I'm gonna have to use these handcuffs on you."

"Is that a promise?" Nick smirks, adjusting his sunglasses.

I blush from his suggestive tone but then boil in rage, with fists clenched and cheeks puffed out as I feel my face go red.

"Nick I'm being serious, enough horsing around!" I roll my eyes.

All of a sudden, a tall horse trots past me and overhears what I just said, getting visually very offended...

Nick bursts out laughing, clutching his stomach and pointing at me from my clear social misfortune. I gasp and cover my mouth with my paws. "I'm so sorry Sir, I didn't mean to... and you're gone." I sigh. Soon the same emotions I felt just five seconds ago repeats itself. I glare at Nick.

"Carrots, I don't think it's appropriate as employee of the month," he exaggerates,"to upset the innocent civilians of the city?"

I grumble in frustration from his comment. "Everything's a joke to you, isn't it?" I reply, turning my back on him to finish writing the fine.

After solving the missing mammals case, it provided a great boost to my reputation at the ZPD and carried me from being invisible to almost the face of the company. After my consistant victories during work following that, I soon became employee of the month, twice in a row as matter of fact, and so far no one has managed to replace me! Not to blow my own trumpet or anything...

Although I strongly think Nick was equally deserving of that spot himself too, why not us both share the title? I couldn't have made it this far without him after all. We're a team. I can't help but think that this has something to do with prejudice. But thinking about that only makes me angrier. A part of me expected Nick to be bitter about it but to my surprise he wasn't phased in the slightest. As if he already saw it coming.
