Chapter 36: The Heavens Above

"Hmmm?" The highest prince stopped writing on the paper when the familiar crow landed on the opened window besides him. Inilapag ng uwak ang dahon na nasa bibig nya, hindi alam ng highest priest kung matutuwa ba sya sa uwak dahil nakabalik ito o iprito ito ng buhay dahil kung ano ano nanaman ang dinadala nito.
"Caw caw!" The crow called out to its owner. Iniangat ng highest priest ang kanyang left arm para sumampa at lumapit ang uwak sakanya. It let out another cry before landing on his arm.
The crow's black eyes stared at his closed ones. They stare at each other for a minute, visions from the crow started to replay on his mind, before he rewarded the crow with its favorite treat. The crow happily grabbed his treat before flying out of the room.
'This was not supposed to happen.' The highest priest thought to himself. Looks like hindi umaayon ang lahat sa plano nya and he don't like it at all.
Napatahimik muna ng ilang segundo ang highest priest bago kinuha ang kanyang cloak na nakasampay sa isa sa mga upuan, kasabay nito ang biglang pagbukas ng kwarto at bumungad si varn na hingal na hingal. He bowed to the highest priest to show some respect first before telling him the news.
"Just as you commanded, pinuntahan namin kung saan nakakulong ang fourth king, pero ang tanging sumalubong samin ang sirang dungeon. From the looks of it, it seems impossible to enter. We tried all the possible ways to enter the dungeon, but we found none. We stayed for a couple of days just to make sure na tignan ang bawat sulok ng dungeon at kung meron man lumabas mula sa dungeon. We can't confirm if the fourth king was inside or not." Varn informed the highest priest to the best of his capability, not missing a single information. Maslalong napasimangot ang highest priest ng marinig nya ito.
Another problem. Napabuntog hininga na lang ang highest priest. Akala nya okay na ang lahat, he thought everything was going smoothly, but looks like the heavens have another plan for them. He silently looked up to the sky.
'O you gracious God, why do you want me to suffer again?' He silently asked the heavens above before turning his head to varn's direction.
"Tell me, did you perform properly the memory spell on the third king?" He asked him. Varn stiffened at his emotionless voice, but the highest priest's smile is the most terrifying of all. Naramdaman ni varn ang pagkanginig ng kanyang tuhod at umiwas ng tingin sakanya and found the floor suddenly interesting to look at.
"Y-yes your excellency, I am one hundred percent sure we performed the spell well." Varn cleared his throat, trying to hide his stutter. The highest priest remained smiling, but varn can clearly feel the killing intent raging off him.
"The third king really lived up to his name, 'The Strategist' huh. No wonder he found a way to tricked all of you thinking that you erased his memory." Ibinalik ng highest priest ang kanyang atensyon sakanyang harapan, not waiting for varn's reaction. Nanigas naman si varn sakanyang kinatatayuan, not expecting this to happen. He was sure as hell na wala talagang naalala ang third king, how did he managed to tricked them? Wala syang idea kung papano sya naloko ng third king. Varn felt shame for letting his master down.
'You leave me no choice, looks like I have to pay you a visit soon, song.'
The crow flying in circles above the highest priest let out another loud cry.
Getshiereher, Center Town
"Mare nabalitaan mo na ba?"
"Alin?"
"May nakakita sa mga myembro ng council papunta sa dungeon, kung saan nakakulong yung hari!"
"*gasped* hindi ba matagal ng gumuho yung dungeon? Malamang patay na ang hari, bat pa sila pupunta dun?"
"Baka kunin ang bangkay ng hari?"
"C-can I g-get some g-grilled steak?" A quite voice asked the waiter. The waiter rolled her eyes at inilista ang order ng costumer na nasa kanayang harapan. She didn't question his cloak, much to the man's relief.
"Anything else?" Walang gana na tanong ng waiter sakanya, impatiently waiting for him to order. The costumer looked at the menu again, he's not looking at the picture of the food itself, but rather for its price. When he noticed the expensive cost of rice, nagsimula na sya magcalculate sa isipan nya, trying to compute his monthly budget if he buy this rice. The waiter is having none of it and slammed her hands at the table that startled the man.
"Water! I need water!" He squeak at the waiter. The waitress glare at him, making the man bury himself in the cloak while shaking in horror.
"Hmp!" The waiter left, satisfied with his reaction. The man sighed in relief, finally the scary woman left him alone.
"Help! Someone help me!" A woman screamed at the top of her lungs. Napatingin ang lalaki sa labas ng resturant and noticed the commotion outside. With a curiosity getting ahead of him, lumabas sya ng restaurant to see what is the commotion about.
"Ano nangyare?"
"Biglang nahimatay ang anak ko, please help him!"
"U-uhh, i-ipainom mo to sakanya." The man decided to stepped in front since it was clear that no one is going to help her. The woman accepted the potion at ipinainom ito sa anak nya. Walang nangyare for a first couple of seconds, until the child opened his eyes. The mother was over joy and hugged her son while people cheering on.
"U-uhm s-sorry to say, may bayad po yun." Basag ng lalaki sa mga nagkakatuwaan na tao. Biglang natahimik ang lahat.
"Wah! Is that a dragon?!" Someone suddenly shouted.
"Get out of the way!"
Napatingin ang lalaki kung nasaan ang sinasabing dragon while the people can't believe their eyes at the sight of the dragon. Since it was rear to see one, they were really mesmerized at the sight of the dragon. They failed to noticed the man on its claws, clearly fighting for his life.
Cyrus looked at the humans surrounding him until his violet eyes landed on the specific human he was looking for. The smell coming from him, indicating he was the right person. He slightly bowed his head and shows the human on his claws.
'King Lan, I humbly request you to save this human.'

Author's note: Hehehe maiksi ba yung chapter? Sorry dahil 1000 words lang yan, hindi ko na kinaya gawing 2000 hehehe. Idk but i think from now on, 1000 words every chapter na lang sorry.
