As they walked back to their dorm, the pair didn't talk to each other, choosing to ignore the other's presence.
"Alea jacta est," Hermione politely told the painting with the old couple in it. They were eyeing the students with a weary eye, the woman much more than her husband. As the painting turned on itself, the witch walked faster than Draco, quickly climbing the stairs and slamming the door of their room.
He didn't follow her, deciding to rather go stand in front of the fire. Blaise was already sitting on one of the couches, making colored smoke appear from his wand. His friend glanced at Draco. "So?" he asked eagerly.
"Detention with her for a week," Draco answered to his implied question. He leaned against the chimney, the fire reflecting on his blond hair.
"That's not too bad," Blaise shrugged. "At least, you'll get to know her."
Draco scoffed loudly, not replying, and stared at Potter and his girlfriend whilst they came to sit next to Blaise. He waited for them to say something.
Ginny cleared her throat, her light brown eyes nervous as they kept moving from the Slytherin boys to Harry. "We thought we could gather around and get to know each other," she said. "A sort of peace offering, if you want."
"I'll go get Luna," Blaise offered, running to his room. Draco was surprised by his behavior, but he guessed it was because his friend was feeling guilty about last night.
Potter was looking at him expectantly. "I'll go get Granger," Draco sighed, following Blaise. As he went upstairs, he crossed paths with Weasley and his partner. The girl smiled nicely at him, he chose to ignore her.
He pounded on the door of his room. "Granger! Potter asked me to tell you to come downstairs."
The door suddenly opened and Granger glared at him. "I'm still mad at you, Malfoy. First day of school and I get detention with you." He didn't reply, looking at her outfit. She was now wearing a large jumper and a pair of jogging, her feet covered with thick and colorful socks. "What?" Hermione snapped, sensing his eyes on her.
"Very nice outfit... for a ten-year-old." With that last remark, he left. Her cheeks became pink and she crossed her arms, wanting to go back to bed, read the updated version of A Thousand Spells by Helge Rosamond and practice a few spells she had learned today.
Nonetheless, she sighed and joined her friends downstairs. Everyone was still wearing their school robes, except for Luna who was wearing a large shirt and a pajama bottom. Smiling at her friend, she sat next to her.
"How was your day?" she asked her. Luna played with her long hair, putting it in braids.
"It was fine," she told Hermione. "As I had predicted this morning, Blaise tried talking to me during class. He had started apologizing, but was cut off by your fight with Draco."
Hermione made a grimace. "Sorry."
Luna shrugged. "It's okay, he said he had something to tell me tonight, so we'll see."
Ginny suddenly gained everyone's attention by clapping her hands. "Perfect! Let's get to know each other! We'll play the Get To Know Your Friends game!"
"Are you sure it's a real game, Gin?" Harry asked, but she made him silent by putting her hand over his mouth, not even looking in his direction.
"I'll start!" She looked around and her gaze stopped on the girl next to Ron. "Ariane! Please tell me I got your name right..." she started, reassured by Ariane's nod. "Great! Are you a new student? I don't recall seeing you these past years..."
