Chapter 5

Maddie's POV:
I go to my drawer and take out my family's picture albums. Flipping through all of the pictures, I feel a single tear fall down my face. I hastily wipe away my tears, and the albums fall off my lap. I pick them up, and put them in my drawers where they should belong. In my past. I guess the drawers are my past now.

I laugh. "What a stupid joke," I murmur.

"Ringgg! Ringggg!" the phone screeches loudly in my ears.

Ops. I left my phone next to my pillow last night. Picking up my phone, I froze in place. It was my alarm which was set for 6 in the morning. Today was Saturday. I have no idea why I'm making such a big idea about it, but I'm suddenly angry that my alarm is on. For heavens sake, it's a SATURDAY! I would enjoy sleeping in for once.

Going into the clock app, I change my alarm to only ring on weekdays at 6am. Moaning, I toss my phone onto the ground and roll over, falling back asleep. Just like a teenage human.

When I wake up, it is 9:40 am still, and I decide to go skateboarding around town. I needed fresh air, and the best way to get it was to do what I loved most- skateboarding.

The wind brushes along my face, and I breathe in the winter scent in Michigan. It was beautiful here, the exact opposite of England. The people were different, and not english accents. There were american accents. Wow, I have changed a lot.

Ever since the king werewolf attacked my mum and dad, I had been broken. The werewolf had killed my mom, and she was only a half vampire since she was turned. Since she was weak, she was simply bit into by the poisonous teeth. It was venomous, and it killed her. My dad had needed revenge, and he tried to kill the wolf with a knife. Not strong enough, and he too was killed. That had only happened 17 years ago, and I still missed them.

While I skateboard, thinking about my past doesn't help me get fresh air. Especially since I could have saved them. I was too scared once my mum died to stop my dad or heal Mum. I had felt like an idiot, and I still did. I had been so thankful and happy, I never thought anything would go wrong. But that is where I was wrong. Everything I loved died, and the only things I loved were my family, music, skateboarding, and powers.

My family was obviously dead, my music wasn't the happy songs I used to write, and were now depressing and sad. The skateboarding... Well that's still there unless you count me breaking my favourite skateboard that my dad bought me, and made me love skateboarding in the first place. And my powers have become stronger. Too strong. Yesterday I accidentally read the teacher's mind which had all of the answers to the test. It was an accident, but the power just bursted out.

At least I know that I got a good grade. Laughing, I stared out of my window to the house across the street. It was Trevor's house. I felt like a complete idiot, since I told him I would see him tomorrow on a Friday. I would have to see him today then. But why would I care what a teenage boy thought of me?

I sat down, thinking through my head and then decided to go to the grocery store. I changed the route I was going to on my skateboard, and headed for the grocery store.

Trevor's POV:
"You really like Maddie," Brandon said for the millionth time.

"Why would you think that?" I ask innocently.

"Well, whenever I think of her, you use your freaking powers to read my mind, and your face becomes blank. Why did I have to be the one born without powers?" Brandon whines.

I laugh. "You wish."

I sigh. Stupid Brandon got Maddie stuck in my mind. Her beautiful eyes, luscious lips, and all of her other perfect features. The dance was next week, and I should ask her. I don't know her very well, but I'm pretty sure a human can easily fall for a vampire.
