Chapter 9

Maddie's POV:
The bang echoed throughout the house. I heard neighbors screaming, and others crying along with telephones coming out of pockets- yes my hearing is that good.

Trevor and my instincts kicked in, and we both jumped up into crouch position. I used my x-ray vision, and looked through the house. I stopped on what I saw. The wolf. He had the same eyes he had when he killed my parents, proud, angry, and evil. Running downstairs, I heard Trevor come behind me.

The king wolf glared at me, and laughed. Like all wolves, it was a shapeshifter and could turn into a human. You knew when they were a werewolf though, it was their skin color that gave them away, along with the smell and eyes.

The small beadlike eyes stared at me, then became nice looking.

"Oh, look who it is. Maddie Pelham! You look beautiful," the king werewolf said, looking happy.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Trevor glare at him.

At that second, I didn't care. I didn't care that the king werewolf in front of me killed my parents, or made me loose the one person I had left. I just wanted revenge.

I lifted up my hand and brought it back, a sharp motion. The sparkling blood red dust came out of my hand, and hit the wolf.

The sound of bones echoed throughout the room.

Nothing happened for a moment, and that second I knew.

I angered the wolf.

He charged at me, full speed, and I managed to put a shield around Trevor and I, blocking his attack. Trevor went around to the other side, and I rounded the shield so that the wolf was stuck in the middle.

There was no way out now, and the wolf knew it... But he didn't care. He started throwing himself against the invisible shield, and soon blood was gushing out of the side of the shield. He has gotten through.

The wolf started striding to me, and I whimpered. Stepping backwards, he followed me there, coming closer and closer to me. I kicked him in the stomach, and he started bleeding there too.

I looked at his other wound, and it was already starting to heal. Crap.

Trevor was too coming closer, trying to sneak up, but we all knew it wouldn't work. The king wolf could sense it, with his ears up, searching and ready for a surprise attack.

Out of nowhere, a pack of wolves appeared behind Trevor.

"Don't mess with our master," one of them sneered at me and Trevor.

They dragged him to the wall, but I knew they were weak. Trevor hit one, and that second his hand collided with it's face, it was dead and bleeding. He did it to the other ones too, but I was so busy watching that I didn't know what was happening to me or my surroundings.

I was on the ground with my back against the wall, looking at a Trevor with dead werewolf bodies around him, bleeding to death. Then there was me, staring back at his worried eyes, searching for me.

As more werewolves came rushing in, he shouted out something that I couldn't hear. And I always could hear.

Then I felt it. The tingling numbness of my body going away, floating somewhere. Somewhere nice.

I slid down the wall so that I was laying flat on the ground, staring up at the ceiling. Suddenly, the wolf is pulled off of me, and I can't believe who I see.

But before I canc t f speak or function correctly, I feel a warm liquid pooling beneath me, and I know it's blood. I have had this feeling before and had almost died. I had been saved by-

Narrator's POV:
Maddie went unconscious. She was unable to see, hear, think or remember the second she became unconscious. Trevor had run to save her, but the strange man was angered with him, and had pushed him away, telling him that he wasn't allowed to touch her, see her, or even talk to her ever again.

The king werewolf had run away with his pack, who quickly transformed back into humans before leaving. They promised to come back again, and would take Maddie next time.

The strange man never told Trevor anything about himselftyrft, only about Maddie. Worst of all, Trevor didn't know his name. As Maddie lay unconscious, Trevor had tried everything to get Maddie back into his arms, but the strange man threatened to kill Maddie with his powers.

Somehow, Trevor knew that this man had once been a part of her life. Though this man had threatened to kill her, Trevor knew he would never hurt her. Even though Maddie never mentioned anything about this man, he knew he was important to her. But now, only one question lingered in his thoughts.

Who was this man and what is he to Maddie?
