Finn had done her best to stay quiet and not actually speak to anybody for the entire morning, sometimes though, contact with people had been unavoidable, like in English.
Finn watched as Ashton settled into his seat, still unaware that his bandana was missing, he looked over at Luke who had gasped loudly, and very dramatically.
"What?" Ashton said with a confused look on his face, patting his face like there was something on it.
"Your.. your.. BANDANA!" Calum shouted from beside Luke, causing the entire class to turn around. Ashton looked like his life had just flashed in front of his eyes, pure terror in his hazel eyes. He fell off his chair in true dramatic style, the class burst out in laughter, all except for the teacher, Mrs Dray.
"Ashton Irwin, what do you think you are doing?" A pink tint covered Ashton's cheeks as he stood up from the floor, brushing himself off and fixing his shirt.
"I fell, honest mistake Miss." He flashed her a smile and went to take his seat.
"No, not there. I've had enough of this already, Luke and Calum, you two stay put and Ashton," Mrs Dray scanned the classroom for an empty seat, and her eyes fixated on the only one left, at the back of the classroom next to Finn. Typical, she thought.
"Next to Finn." Finn sighed and moved her bag from the seat next to her, Ashton raised his eyebrows slightly as she threw the bag on the floor.
Ashton stayed quiet. He knew who Finn was. Everybody did. She was angry, he knew that for a fact even though it had never been to him directly, you could almost feel the anger emulating from her by him just sitting next to her. Ashton didn't see how somebody could be that angry all the time, she looked like she hated everything and anything, even Ashton as it seemed. He doubted that she would ever speak to him, not that it bothered him, to him she was just another girl in his class, just an extremely angry unsociable girl.
"Um.. Ashton?" He turned his head to Finn who had removed her earbuds and lay her iPod on the desk in front of her.
"Yeah?" He tried to sound friendly but knowing his luck it came off as him being a prick.
"Nevermind." She trailed off and put her earbuds back in. She turned the volume up on her iPod and Ashton glanced over, picking it up to get a better view.
"You listen to Blink 182?" He asked with a smile, setting her iPod back on the desk. She blushed slightly and he thought he saw a slight smile but Finn brushed him off completely and pulled her iPod away from the desk.
Well it was good to know they had one thing in common, he guessed.
He could sense that they were complete opposites without even knowing Finn. Her music taste may have been similar to his own but that was probably it. Ashton was upbeat and positive majority of the time, were as Finn was unsociable and unhappy. The class was almost over and Ashton was surprised he had actually got work done instead of acting like a dick with Luke and Calum. There were a few times he thought Finn was going to try to have a conversation but it just came out as-
"Can you stop chewing gum." or "Do you mind not tapping your fingers so much, it's pissing me off."
Ashton laughed slightly at her requests although her obvious dislike towards him didn't make him stop with the annoying habits. Ashton wondered if he would have to sit there all year, next to the angry girl who liked Blink. His thoughts were interrupted when Finn tapped his shoulder. He turned around to see the red bandana he had lost, placed in her hands."You found it?" He asked, taking it off her and flashing her a smile.
"It fell off when you were racing with those dickheads." She nodded towards Luke and Calum, who were drawing on each others faces, oh so mature."So you were the girl Luke almost knocked over?" He questioned.
"Yeah, and if you ever call me 'love' again, I'll have to rip the hair off your arms." Ashton looked down at his extremely hairy forearm and winced at the thought. Finn, however, didn't even take a second thought about it.
"I guess I'll stick to calling you Finn then. But thanks, anyway." Ashton said whilst tapping his fingers on the desk again, thus receiving a glare and an eye roll from Finn.
The bell rang and Finn shot up from her seat, leaving the classroom in a rush to get away from people. She almost knocked Michael over as he approached the class, waiting for the boys.
"Yeah it's fine, don't worry about it." He shouted after her, earning a middle finger in return.
The boys exited the class and gave Michael a confused look.
"She really thinks a lot of herself doesn't she?" Michael snarled, clearly pissed off.
"Who?" Calum asked, taking his earphones out to join the conversation.
"Finn. The angry one with a bad attitude." Michael answered.
"Seems like a bit of a bitch, Ash here gets to spend the rest of the year with Little Miss Conceited. Tell us about your hour of silence, Ash." Luke said as they moved towards the cafeteria.
"Well, she found my bandana." He answered while Luke and Calum looked at his head, only just realising he had it.
"I'm surprised, thought she might've burned it." Luke chuckled. "So now she's a saint?" He asked, bewildered that Ash hadn't said anything negative.
"She's rude and antisocial, you guys knew that already. But she listens to Blink." Ashton shrugged.
Calum threw himself against a locker and clutched his chest.
"You. Must. Marry. Her." He gasped, his sarcasm making the boys laugh.
"Just because she listens to one of your favourite bands, doesn't mean she's not a rude bitch." Calum said as he reverted back from award winning actor.
"True. And she did threaten to rip the hair of my arms." Ashton frowned as the boys looked at his arms like he had earlier."Might take her a little while." Michael chuckled and put his arm round Ashton.
"Wouldn't be surprised if she did though." Luke added. Ashton stayed silent, really not sure what to make of Finn, baring in mind that was the first conversation they'd ever had. The girl did give him back his bandana, but then again she was rude. And sarcastic. And moody. The more he thought about it the more he realised there wasn't much to like about Finn. Especially her threats.
"That's because she's not a very nice person. And they're just empty threats." Michael said, bringing Ashton out of his thoughts. Had he said that outloud?
They made their way into the hall packed with teenagers and took their usual table. Luke had left them to go buy pizza, Monday was his day to buy for the boys. The three of them sat down, talking about the usual topics of conversation.
"The new Fifa's out and the graphics are so good I almost had a heart attack." Michael gushed to Calum, who was clearly intrigued to find out more.
"Mum said I have to wait till the end of the month so she can afford it, I really need a job." Ashton laughed, Calum couldn't even take a girl out on a date because he would have to ask his mum for money.
"I don't know what you're laughing about, you don't even play Fifa." Calum argued.
"That's because I'm not a loser." Calum frowned and punched Ashton's arm.
"You are most definitely a loser." The boys looked up to find Finn standing there, hands on her hips and her eyebrow raised.
"What do you want?" Michael asked with annoyance covering his face. She ignored his question and asked where Luke was.
Luke appeared behind her and set down the blue tray with four large slices of pizza on it.
"What do you want Finn?" She rolled her eyes and moved over slightly so she could speak to them all.
"There's a field trip for our English class, you guys need to get your permission slips." The boys looked at each other and back at Finn.
"You're telling us this why?" Calum asked.
"Because if you don't, you're gonna miss out on a grade for this term." She rolled her eyes again, something the boys noticed she did a lot, and flipped her hair out her face, turning around to go back to her table.
"Bitch." Michael muttered under his breath.
"Come on boys, eat up and let's go get these fucking slips." Ashton said with a mouthful of pizza. He wondered if Finn could ever be nice, or whether he would have a friendly conversation with her without being called a loser or getting weird looks off her. He doubted it very much.
