"What kind of friend wants to meet at 2am? Are they okay? Do they need a doctor?" Ashton hadn't let the little late night escapade go, in fact he wouldn't stop talking about it during their entire lesson, and it was getting on Finn's nerves.
"Ashton!" She near enough yelled at him, making him bump into the lockers as they walked out of class together. "It was a guy, okay?" She said, quieter this time. Ashton looked at her with a knowing smile, glad to have finally got it out of her.
"Do I know him?" Ashton quizzed her and Finn just pushed him into a wall, signalling it was time to shut up.
"I told you enough already, quit being so nosey you little shit." Ashton gasped and clutched his chest, pretending to be utterly distressed and offended by Finn's comment, obtaining yet another muffled giggle to pass her lips.
Ashton was too busy trying to make Finn laugh and finding out her dirty secrets to even remember that he was supposed to wait for the other boys so they could grab a drink from the vending machines during their break.
"I just realised, I don't even know what classes you take." Ashton said out of nowhere, causing Finn to give him the side-eye.
"English, French, History and Maths." Ashton stopped still in his tracks and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Oh God, you take such awful lessons." He laughed and carried on walking by Finn's side. She would've taken offence but it was true, and it wasn't her fault either.
"I blame my parents for that." Ashton raised his eyebrow but didn't question her any further, he got the feeling she didn't want to speak about it. "What about you?" She asked, instead of elaborating.
"English, Music, Art and History."
"At least you have two kind of fun lessons, and I'm stuck with you for the other two." She frowned, her lips puffing out as she did so, making them even more plump. "It's break now, isn't it? Shit, better go find Keiko." And without another word she was gone, Ashton sighed and realised he had to go back the way he just came to meet the lads.
"Did you not hear me calling you?" Luke and Calum stood by the English door, luckily Michael hadn't shown up yet.
"No, sorry lads. Don't mention to Mike about me being with Finn, okay?" They shared the same weird look of confusion on their faces. "I'll tell you later." Ashton said, they nodded but still had the look of utter confusion plastered across their chiselled faces.
"Mike, where have you been? We've got another 5 minutes before the bell goes for next lesson." Calum sighed, clearly getting frustrated with the punctuality of his friends. They made their way to the vending machines, teasing Luke about his crush on the girl he sat next to in Maths. Soon after, the bell went, signalling it was time for their next lessons. They parted ways and Ashton headed down to the art room, he was the only person in his year that had taken art that year, but luckily the small studio was free whenever Ashton needed it so he usually worked in there by himself without the overshadow of his teacher, who seldom turned up anyway.
Finn was on the other side of the school, in a classroom filled with ignorant assholes who didn't have a clue how to say 'thank you' in French without offending the entire country of France. Finn however, was great at French. She could have easily gotten through this lesson if it hadn't been for Michael glaring at her throughout. He sat across the room from her but even when she had no vision of him, she felt his burning stare. She gave him a dirty look and took out her phone, her teacher knew she completed the work with ease and let her take the rest of her lesson to herself. Everybody she knew was in a lesson that they needed to do well in, but she had no idea where Ashton was.
To: Ashton the Great
What are you doing? It's Finn
She scoffed at the contact name he gave himself and waited for his reply, still feeling Michael's burning gaze fixated on her. She wasn't quite sure why she texted Ashton, she knew Keiko had P.E and wouldn't be able to reply and Finn needed a distraction, she knew Ashton could make her laugh, and that was a good enough excuse.
From: Ashton the Great
Doing arty shit, why?
To: Ashton the Great
Is there a teacher there?
From: Ashton the Great
Nope, just me
Finn stood up and put her phone back in her pocket, picking up her bag and notebook where the work was completed and made her way to the front of class, handing the black book over to her teacher and asking if she could leave early. He agreed after skimming through the work, there were benefits of being almost fluent in French.
On the way to the art studio, Finn thought about her situation. Michael, was an asshole. A complete and utter waste of time, and space for that matter. They had a connection she loathed, and wish they hadn't, but there was no point denying it now. Ashton on the other hand, seemed genuine. He was caring, willing to protect her for some unknown reason, but she trusted him, unsure why. They didn't have a bond yet, or maybe they did. Finn couldn't be sure. Where they even friends? She doubted it, after having a mere four conversations with the kid. How Michael and Ashton were best friends confused Finn immensely, Michael was so ugh and Ashton was so, nice. Finn was tied to the both of them though, Ashton was her neighbour and maybe friend, if she was capable of having an actual friendship, and Michael was her, well nothing now. Ashton was a distraction for now, and not her usual type of distractions, like Michael had been.
