Chapter 11

Miley woke up lying on a floor of a dark room. She sat up and was hit with a huge headache. Grunting, she placed her hand on her forehead and used the other one to push herself to stand up.

She looked around and realized that she was actually caged. She went pale upon remembering what happened before everything went black. Someone kidnapped her but she was still confused about what the person said to her.

Were they looking for her all along? Nobody knew about her existence, she made sure of it every time she went outside. Only Gabe knew about her but he wouldn't tell anyone, right? A tear slid down her cheek as she remembered what Gabe did.

Her chest began hurting again. She slowly backed into a corner and slid down, crying silently. It wasn't too long until the lights in the door turned on. Miley raised her head and looked around herself once more.

The walls were light green. There was a metal table with some kind of surgical instruments. By the table were many machines Miley didn't even know what they were for. It looked like an operating room.

At least it looked like one from many movies she watched. She never really saw interior of any hospital. Everything she ever knew was from movies and what her parents told her. A few moments later, she heard footsteps coming.

She tried scooting more to the corner but it was impossible. A tall male wearing a grey suit came in and approached the cage. He squatted down and looked Miley right in her eyes. He noticed she was crying.

>>Don't be scared honey. I'm Mike and I hope we will get along.<< he said and smiled.

>>What do you want from me?<< she asked.

>>Glad you asked.<< he said and stood up, walking away from the cage to the table with instruments.

>>Ever since you were born, I knew you'd be special. The X-ray we did on you just confirmed it. No one noticed it but me. I could've told them what was going to happen to you but an idea popped into my mind. Those wings of yours are magnificent....such a beautiful trophy on a wall,<< he picked up a scalpel and observed it >>now I know you must've hated not leaving your house for so very long, longer than a decade! You must wish to be normal, don't you?<< he looked at her expecting an answer.

>>No, for my whole life my parents always made me feel normal. Yes, I couldn't leave but I had everything I could ask for. I am loved, I am not abused. My wings make me me and I'm not going to let you take a part of me just to be some trophy of yours.<< she finished.

Mike's facial expression turned into scowl and anger could be seen in his eyes.

>>So that's how it's going to be, okay.<< he said and took a knife from the desk.

A grin took place on his face as he was coming closer to Miley. Before he could even reach her, someone bursted into the room. Someone familiar.

>>Father we need to talk.<< a young male voice spoke.

>>Gabe... What brings you here my son?<< Mike tried to act natural, not wanting Gabe to turn his look and see Miley.

>>What the f-<< Gabe stopped and smelled the room.

He recognized the smell right away. It was Miley's perfume. He looked to his left side and saw Miley in a cage, curled up in a corner. She looked scared, she was trembling.

>>M-miley?<< he said barely above a whisper.

It didn't even take him a second before he realized what's going on, turned to his father, boiling with rage.

>>You monster!<< he yelled and punched his father in the face, knocking him out cold.

Gabe shook his hand and ran towards Miley. He tried grabbing her hand but she backed away from him.

>>Miley I'm nothing like him. Please, I want to set you free.<< he said in a soft voice.

>>I don't want to go with you anywhere anymore.<< she said with tears in her eyes.

>>Why?<< he asked, not knowing what he did wrong.

>>I saw you on that roof with her! Now go fuck off!<< she yelled as Gabe finally realized.

>>No, no, no, Miley please listen to me. I was dared by my friends to go with her on that roof. Her kissing me wasn't part of the plan. I don't know how much you saw but I pulled away right after her lips landed on mine. Please, you have to believe me. Miley I love you and I would never cheat on you. Please, I love you, don't leave me.<< his voice cracked at the last words.

Miley slowly looked at him and saw that he was crying. He never cried unless it was something he cared about. It broke her heart once more seeing him sad. She gently put her hand over his.

Upon the sudden contact, Gabe's muscles tensed and almost immediately after relaxed. He looked into Miley's eyes and smiled. She smiled back.

>>Let's get you out of here.<< Gabe said and grabbed the keys to the cage.

As soon as Miley got out, he hugged her tightly.

>>I'm sorry for even accepting that stupid fucking dare. I'm an idiot.<< he said.

>>Yes you are.<< she responded which made them both chuckle.

Before they got out of the house, Gabe injected his father with a substance.

>>What did you do to him?<< Miley asked.

>>I sedated him. He's not gonna wake up for a while.<< Gabe answered.

The two ran out of the house together, hand in hand. Luckily it was still dark and everyone was asleep in their bed at home. The two made their way towards Miley's home but Gabe stopped them as soon as they reached a police station.

>>You go and I'll meet you there.<< he said.

>>Are you sure you want to do this Gabe?<< she asked.

>>I'm sure.<< he said before they parted ways.

Gabe inhaled and exhaled slowly before opening the door to the police station and walking in. It took Miley a long time to get home. The sun was already shining when she arrived in the front porch where her parents were.

They saw her and ran towards her, hugging her tightly.

>>Oh Miley, thank God. We were so worried. What happened?<< Jane asked, breaking the hug.

>>A guy named Mike kidnapped me...he wanted to take my wings as a trophy...<< Miley said.

A feeling of anger rushed through James as he took his daughter by her shoulder and shook her.

>>Mike who? We'll find him and end this.<< he said.

>>He said he knew you and that he was there when I was born...<< Miley answered her father.

Jane's and James' face went pale. They only knew one Mike and were shocked by the information. James went to his car but Miley stopped him before he could do anything else.

>>Wait dad! You don't have to do anything. Gabe saved me and went to the police.<<

>>How did Gabe find you?<< Jane asked.

>>It was honestly, coincidental and well I'm his son...well, I was adopted by him when I was very young.<< a male voice said behind the Jones family.

They turned and Miley went and hugged him.

>>I'm so sorry you had to go through all this. I'm never letting anyone hurt you again.<< Gabe said.

Jane invited the boy in the house where everything would be explained. He happily agreed.
