When I open the door to the bunk house I see Kat changed into a denim mini skirt with a red and blue plaid button down shirt, cowgirl boots, and a shiny belt buckle. Her gorgeous long brown hair is curled in long loose waves, and a smile beams on her face when she sees me.

"Lex, you're back... everyone is going out to the bar tonight. You have to come with us!"

I glance over at Samantha, and Caitlin. They too are dressed to go out. Chewing on my bottom lip, I think about the invitation. It sounds like it would be fun, and I could definitely use the distraction. Being here in the bunkhouse would feel lonely, and if I stay here I might end up doing something stupid like calling him. His image appears again. In Kat's hand I see a beer. Quickly I step over to her. "Yes, I'll go. Sounds fun! Do you have another one of those?" Kat looks stunned!

"I didn't know you even drank."

I don't usually, but at this moment I could really use some help getting him out of my head. I don't tell her that though. I just stare at her, waiting for her response. Finally, she realizes how serious I am, and I watch her walk over to the fridge. Grabbing a can, she tosses it over to me. Gripping it tightly I see that it's a raspberry white claw. Popping it open I take a big sip. When I remove it from my lips, I take a deep breath. Kat's voice then breaks the silence.

"Well, clearly Lexi won't be able to be the DD. That means it's your turn Caitlin."

Caitlin rolls her eyes, and a big sigh escapes her lips.

"Fine!"

Her attitude surprises me. I can't even remember the last time she was the DD. Probably because I always am. Ignoring her response I turn back to Kat. "Listen, I'm going to take a quick shower. It shouldn't take me too long. I will be ready in 15."

"Yeah, no problem! We can wait, right ladies?"

Caitlin looks impatient, and Samantha shouts out "Hell yeah!" While dancing around the room with a beer in hand. Samantha is a lot of fun, and has a care free attitude. She's usually the life of the party. Smiling, I step over to my dresser and grab a pair of fresh jeans, a t-shirt, and some fresh under garments. I don't see the point in dressing up.

True to my word, I walk out with my wet blonde hair in a French braid. Caitlin is the first out the door, followed by Samantha, Kat, and then I as the caboose. Once we are all piled into Caitlin's 2020 Jeep Cherokee, Caitlin floors it. Quickly, I buckle up and feel my whole body tense. Would we even make it to the bar before ending up in a ditch along the way? Taking another sip of my beer, I close my eyes and tell myself to breathe.

When we arrive at the bar all four of us leave our drinks and scramble out of the vehicle. Filled with gratitude to be on steady ground, I follow the three of them into the bar. Each one of us shows our fake IDs and I follow them over to a table. We take our seats and wait for someone to take the bait. It's a game they play, and I guess since I'm drinking tonight, I will be playing as well. Samantha sets her eye on a tall cowboy at a pool table. Smiling at him, she flips her hair. When he glances her way she sends him a wink, and then turns around. We all watch with no surprise as he walks over and taps her on the shoulder. Samantha turns to face him with a big smile.

"Hi, I'm Bryan, I'd love to know your name."

Samantha laughs!

"How bout I tell you my name after you buy me and my friends here a round."

Bryan glances at each of us, and then brings his attention back to Samantha.

"Alright, I'll accept that offer, but only if you and your friends agree to play a round of pool with my buddies and I."
