Chapter 2: Helping out the little guy

AN: In this chapter you meet the gang and do some superhero things. Cool? Aight. I'mma head out.

YN POV

"Welcome to our class YN. I'm Madame Bustier. Now, is there anyone you would rather sit next to?" She asks me. That's when I notice "Nathaniel. If that's... alright." I answer nervously. "Go ahead then." She tells me giving me a warm smile. I like her. Anyway. Nathaniel and I talk quietly for a little bit before we make drawings to compare with each other. We get along really well. He's stopped stuttering now, and he told me about his crush on a girl called Marinette. Which I teased him about. Obviously.

*Ring*

Lunchtime Bitches! "You ready?" Nath asks. "Nah. Meet you there in a sec my dude." I answer casually. "Okay. See you there." We smile at each other, then he heads off. I start putting everything in my locker and then someone taps me on the shoulder. I turn around to see a girl with black framed glasses and brown hair that ended red. "Dope hair." I say to her. "Thanks YN. Nice fashion sense." "Thanks." "I'm Alya. This is Marinette, Adrien and Nino." Alya gestures to everyone to make sure I don't confuse them.
I wave to them then turn to Marinette. "Your eyes are beautiful. No homo. But still they are." I say with a smile on my face. "Thank you YN. You're really nice." She compliments me. I just shrug it off. "We wanted to tell you that we really appreciated the way you stood up to Chloe." Nino chimes in. He sounds exactly as I thought he would... chill. "Really? I thought I was harsh... I mean, she didn't know my dead mom gave me these. I mean she couldn't have. I bet deep down she isn't that bad." I respond. As soon as I said that Adrien looks at me and smiles a little. "I sure hope so. That would mean she might stop terrorising us one day." Marinette says haunted by memories of Chloe no doubt.
"Sorry about your mom." Adrien finally speaks up. "It's okay. I still have my Aunt. She's pretty cool." I say giving them a faltering smile. "What about your dad?" Marinette asks. That's... personal. "We don't talk about him. Anyway! I should go. Nath's waiting for me." I say hastily changing the subject. "Nath?" Alya questions. "Nathaniel." I say before going to the cafeteria. This place is suprisingly easy to navigate through.
After a pleasant lunch with Nathaniel, we get back to class. We are partnered with people and tasked with making a poster about climate change. Nath and I are split up. Which is much sad, very bad. I have to socialise with raaaaandos. I mentally cry. But I'm with Alya, Nino, Marinette and Adrien so... things could be a lot worse! We talk and get to know each other whilst making our poster and we seem to click instantly. By the end of it, we are full-on friends.
I learned from Alya that there is a supervillain in town. I asked all about him and the two superheroes of course. I needed to plan out the perfect introduction for my fabulous spider self after all. Alya wouldn't shut up about Ladybug, but I was more curious about Chat Noir, which seemed to gain Adrien's interest. Marinette on the other hand seemed every so slightly upset about that.

Anyway, its after school now and I left all my books in my locker since I did all my homework in classes. The only thing in my bag now, is my suit. I put it on in an alley, web the bag in said alley, and start shooting webs. People notice me swinging across buildings and at first are curious but scared.
I assure them I'm not akumatized and that there's a new superhero in town. Next thing I know, my statement is on all the TVs. Enter, Spidergirl. I help some people find lost dogs, carry things, etc... Then I see someone getting mugged. I swing over there, knee the mugger in the balls, grab the kind old lady's bag, shoot a web at the mugger which sticks him to a wall and give the lady her bag back. "Why thank you dear." She says kindly, taking her bag back. "No problem. I'm happy to help." I tell her smiling under my mask.
I turn around and see reporters and cameras focused on me. "Over here!" A reporter says, trying to catch my attention. I walk over to her and she starts with her questions:

- "First off, what should we call you?"
- "I'm just your friendly neighbourhood Spidergirl. Nice to meet you."
- "We've been following you today and we noticed how, unlike other superheroes, you've been helping people with menial tasks like, moving, carrying groceries, giving directions," the cameraman focuses on me. "Why is that?" Following me? Weird choice of words...
- "Well, someone has to look out for the little guy. And as for the others I'm sure they are just busy. It's really hard juggling normal life and superhero life. And they have been fighting supervillains! They must be very tired most of the time. But they do what they can. They deserve a lot of support." I hope I didn't come off as arrogant.
- "Have you met Ladybug and Chat Noir yet?" The reporter tilts the mic towards me yet again.
-"No. But I have heard a lot about them. They sound fantastic. Really impressive."
- "Last question, do you have a favourite?" The reporter says with a smirk and tilts the mic once more.
- "They are both very valuable members of this community and both have their pros and cons." I start, but then turn to the camera and say behind my hand that "I think the kitty cat is more my type of person though." I wink (the masks closed its eyes when you do), and shoot a web onto the building next to me and make my escape.

MARI'S POV

"New superhero huh. What do you think Tikki?" I ask my kwami whilst looking at my TV screen. "She seems pretty nice and kind hearted. And I think she'll switch favourites as soon as she meets Chat Noir." Tikki answers making me laugh. She isn't that bad...

ADRIEN'S POV

"She seems cool." Plagg says, eating his disgusting cheese. "Yeah she does. I think she'll make a nice addition to the team." I'm finally someone's favourite!!!
