Chapter 17: Captain Hardrock

The two continued to argue while you all just watch helplessly from the sidelines as he starts giving her tickets. She laughs, ripping them and tossing the pieces.

She's a badass, yes. But dear lord woman  stop angering the police officer.

He starts handing her even more tickets, and she starts practically growling with rage. You sigh, seeing where this is going. You walk over to Alya, and tap her on the shoulder. "Alya, I need to do superhero stuff. Cover for me yeah?" You ask. She nods, and you awkwardly sidestep past Juleka's mother and officer Roger.

You walk away from the boat, and into an alley. "Every gosh darn time." You groan. "I swear we're gonna have to start handing out balloons or something to keep people happy. Cuz this is happening way too often. Hwakmoth is one O.P. son of a bitch." You rant to no one as you put your suit on.

On queue, the sound of Captain Arnaka's voice rings from the distance. "Looks like she's sailing to Jagged Stone." You mumble to yourself before retuning to the liberty.

You sneak on, and notice no one on deck except the villain herself. So you decide to try below.

And to your luck, there they are.

All tied together. Except Mari and Luka. He's just standing there complimenting her while she gets flustered.

"You two do realise that your friends are still in chains right?" You question from behind them, making them all look in your direction.

Mari looks between you and her friends for a second before letting out a "Right, sorry"

Your head snaps in the direction of the door. Spidey sense...

"Guys, she's coming." You say, seconds before her footsteps are heard from the other side of the door.

"We'll be back for you!" Mari whisper shouts before running through the door with Luka. You wink at Alya before doing the same.

"The only way out would be the window, but that's a lost cause." You say hurriedly, scanning the room. That's when Luka comes up with a plan.

"Go Marinette! Go!" He yells out the window as Arnaka busts open the door. Arnaka orders his capture and chains surround him out of nowhere, pulling him back to the others. She checks out the window before doing the same.

Seconds after the door closes, Marinette pops out from under the bed, and you come down from your position on the ceiling.

"Come on Tikki, we can't leave our friends." She says as a weird looking creature comes out from her bag. "So that's a kwami, huh? Kinda cute... right. Not the time." You comment, but stop when you notice Mari's look.

"Tikki, spots on!" She shouts, as she begins to transform. By the end, you can't help but think: that was so extra, what the fuck?

You get above deck just in time to see the kitty cat getting wrapped in chains too. Luckily, lady's yo-yo break them.

"Jesus LB! What are those things made from? Steel?" You question, landing next to her. Captain Hardrock does not seem pleased.

"Seize them!" She shouts, pointing her sword at you. The three of you dodge flying chains left and right until officer Roger shows up with his megaphone. "I command you to stop in the name of the law!"
Roger, you dumbass. You think to yourself as she fires at them and sends them flying. Ladybug creates a safety net with her yo-yo, catching them all.

"Don't cats hate water? This is gonna suck for you." You taunt the blond. "I'll be purrrrfect as long as I stay dry." He fires back, matching your energy. "Clever cat." You praise. "Naturally M'lady."

The three of you race back to the ship and dodge more chains. You reach Hardrock but she just escapes to higher ground. "What's the plan?" You ask LB after ducking under a chain that went straight for your face. "Do we know where the akuma is?" Chat questions, knocking one out of the way with his stripper pole.

"It has to be on this ship." She answers, turning to face us. "In that case, a cataclysm will solve this-" "NO!" both you and Lady shout, stopping him in his tracks. "There are prisoners down in the hold. If you sink this boat, they might drown!" She explains.

"She's attacking more people" You observe, making Lady pause for a moment. "We need to stop this boat somehow." She thinks out loud.

You all try to stop it somehow. "Liberty only answers to me!" Hardrock shouts, before more chains come our way. Lady pushes you through a door with her. "Ladybug, Spidergirl!" Alya shouts. You untie them while LB walks over to Luka.

"Thank god you're okay Alya. We're really lucky no one Hawkmoth Akumatizes is a murderer." You state, making her slightly uneasy.

"Is Marinette okay?" Luka asks LB as she helps him up. "Yeah, she's safe. She's the one who alerted me." She says in order to throw suspicion. "That girl is really brave." Luka praises, making Mari blush.

Ouch.

"Lucky charm!" LB shouts.

Luka then turns to you. "Thank you-" "Whatever. I'm gonna go help Chat." You cut him off before leaving.

Chat is still fighting against Hardrock. You swing and land next to him. "Sorry for abandoning you like that. LB dragged me to the hold." You apologise. He gives you a surprise look.

"What?" You question, confused as to why that surprised him. She's dragged you both around before.

"Lady never apologises..." he mumbles so low you almost didn't hear. Maybe you weren't supposed to.

At that moment, you're both launched back by Hardrock.

"Shoot. Should've been paying attention." You reprimand yourself.

"Seize them!" Hardrock shouts once more. You swing out of the line of fire, but the cat isn't as lucky. Chains wrap around him, tying him to the ship. "My treasure will be your miraculous, kitty cat." She says as she approaches him.

LB where are you?

Just as you think it, she appears and starts fighting the captain herself.

Suddenly, you feel a weight against your head, and your vision blurs. You reach to the back of your head near your hood, and feel a tear in the fabric. When you bring your hand back, you see blood on it.

"Well that can't be good..." you comment.

"She should have by now, everything's back to normal!"

"If you would stop running off and leaving us to fend for ourselves without telling us, this wouldn't have happened!"

"Will you two stop bickering? My head still hurts." You cut off the heroes, sitting up.

"You're okay!" They both exclaim, relieved. You look around yourself and sigh. "Well this has been the worst day ever, and it ended with me almost dying. That's cool." You complain before standing up and webbing away.

"I don't think she's okay." The cat remarks, earning a scoff and an eyeroll from the other hero.

"We should go. We'll transform back soon."
