The Meeting - SMii7Y

Goodbye

The next morning I woke up with Smii7y next to me again, but this time he was awake first.

"I'm leaving today," he said sadly.

"I know you are," I yawned. "But it'll only be a little more than a month until you live here."

"Speaking of that," he sat up in bed, stretching his arms out, "I need to find an apartment."

I let out a small laugh and he looked at me puzzled.

"Well I'm renting a house with 2 of my friends. I could talk to them and see if they'd be okay with you living with us." I sat up as well and leaned lazily against the wall. He looked shocked.

"Are you serious?" He said with his eyes wide.

"Well, it'd be really hard to find something now, all the good places are already taken up. I'll text my friends right away." Before he could say anything, I already had my phone open and started typing to my group chat.

My roommates were Rin and Ann. They had been friends with me since high school, and they were some of the most fun and chill people I knew.

don't freak, but I got a bf and he's going to Maine with us, can he live in the house?

Rin
you got a what?!?!?!??!?!?!

there's only 3 bedrooms tho

someone could share the master tho plus rent is cheaper then

are we just gonna pretend miki didn't say she has a bf??????

thats true, but ill only say yes if I get my own room

Rin
is he cute????

if Rin is down to share with me, I hereby grant ann her own room, as well as lowering everyone's rent

Rin
he can only live with us if he's cute

then tell him thank you bc I was gonna lowkey make yall cover some of my rent🤪

I showed the texts to Smii7y, who had already gotten dressed by time I was done texting. He made sure I told them both thank you on his behalf, and Rin made sure to warn him that he would not be getting in the way of girl time. I assured her that he wouldn't and then it was time for me to get ready.

Smii7y's flight was around 4, so we decided to go for a brunch after he packed.

Since he would be living with us, I asked Ann and Rin if they wanted to join. Rin jumped on the plan almost immediately, but Ann already had commitments.

Rin told us when and where to meet her, and Smii7y laughed and agreed.

We met Rin at the place and time, and Smii7y seemed very surprised. Rin was definitely very outgoing, and opinionated, but she was also one of my best friends and I loved her for it.

"Heyyy!" Rin said waving us over to the table she was already waiting at. She had also already ordered coffee and food for herself.

Smii7y introduced himself, and instead of responding, Rin looked over to me.

"You're right. He is cute," she said with a giggle.

Smii7y sure made people laugh, and Rin was a loud laugher. It was nice to see them get along so well, and as Rin said goodbye, Smii7y grabbed my hand to leave. Something seemed wrong.

As soon as we got back in the car, I could tell something was bothering Smii7y.

"What's wrong?" I asked as he started up the car.

"Rin was flirting with me. I mean, she knows we're together, and you were right there. I can't live with her if-"

He stopped talking as he heard my laughter.

"What's so funny?" He asked seriously.

"Rin's a lesbian." Immediately Smii7y's face turned red, and he pulled out of the parking spot. I kept laughing, but he just tried to ignore it.

As we got closer to the airport, reality started to sink in. This would be the last time we were together until school started.

"Only about a month until we live together," he said like he was reading my mind. "You don't think we're moving too fast are we?"

"I mean, we are. But being roommates in college with 2 other girls is a lot different than 'moving in' together," I air quoted.

"You're right. And I don't see anything so terrible happening that we we wouldn't be able to work something out if we did break up." He said the last part like he was scared of my reaction.

"No, I totally agree," I assured him. "You're not moving down here to give up your life for me, you're moving down here to advance your own life while seeing if we work out."

"Exactly." He pulled his rental car back to the return area and smiled at me. I helped him grab all his luggage, and we made our way down to his gate.

At security, he wasted no time wrapping his arms around me and kissing me on the head.

"I'm going to miss you, Miki," he said sadly.

"I know, I'm going to miss you too," I repeated back to him.

We took our last moment for one last kiss, and I waved to him as he walked away.

I waited a moment until he was out of sight, and then ordered an Uber so I could go home.

Being at the airport, an Uber was ready for me almost immediately and I made my way down the escalators and back outside to the pickup area. I looked for the car description and found it almost right away. I opened the back door and slid in, putting my seat belt on and daydreaming of a certain Canadian.

"Miki?" The driver asked. His voice brought something into my brain, but I didn't know what it was at the time.

"That's me," I said. And that's when I finally looked up to the driver's seat and saw the face that had been haunting my nightmares.

"Eric?"
