When I woke up on the couch, Smii7y was still asleep. I quietly walked over to Ann's room and popped open the door. Rin was passed out on the floor, but Ann was gone.

I checked the time and saw it was 8am. Ann was never awake this early. Where would she be?

Knowing she was probably still mad at me, I decided to ignore it for now, and went to make breakfast. That's when I saw the note on the counter.

With Lena. Fuck you.

She was definitely still mad. When Rin woke up I knew she would shut this down real fast, so I tried to go on with my day.

Rin was hungover again and stayed in bed for the majority of the day, Smii7y went to hang out with Cole, and I tried to not think about anything.

When Ann came home around dinner, she said nothing to me, and went to talk to Rin.

Finally, someone besides me would put some sense into her.

I got a text.

Smii7y
drunk girl is back hitting on me

Miki
how much does this girl drink?

Smii7y
well she isn't drunk now but idk her name. just trying to ignore her

I heard a door open and close. And then again. Ann went back to her room. I went to see Rin.

"She's mad at you now too?" I asked.

"No..." Rin shook her head.

"Didn't you tell her she shouldn't stay with Lena after she cheated on her?"

"No..."

"Rin!" I yelled.

"Okay, I don't like Lena, but I trust Ann's judgment. If she still wants to be with Lena then she should be."

"Rin..." I accused.

"Okay, fine. I just don't want her to be mad at me. She shouldn't be with Lena, I know. But I guess we have to support her."

I guess she was right. So I tried to. I knocked on Ann's door, only for her to slam it in my face. I spent the next few days trying to tell Ann I was sorry and that I supported her, but she stayed silent and spent every night with Lena instead of our normal 10pm hangouts.

By Friday nothing had changed. Ann was not going to speak to me. I was upset but I didn't know what to do. I had tried to apologize but she just ignored me. When Rin suggested we all go out and Ann agreed, I jumped on hoping that we could finally make up.

"Nevermind then," Ann said walking back into her room.

"Really?" Smii7y said, starting to get angry about how long this was going on for.

"It's fine," I said. "The three of us can just go." So we did.

"I just hope that girl isn't there," Smii7y said rolling his eyes.

"Who?" Rin asked. Smii7y explained the girl who kept flirting with him.

"I keep telling her I have a girlfriend and she's like 'she doesn't have to know!'"

"Ew, that's the worst type of person," Rin complained and we all agreed. Even though another girl flirting with my boyfriend wasn't my favorite topic in the world, it was a distraction from Ann and I was thankful for that.

The party was pretty boring and tame. I got to spend some more time with Cole who seemed super cool. Rin seemed to like him to. He was the kind of person that made everyone around him feel comfortable, and it was obvious from the get go why Smii7y got along with him so well.

We all sat in a group, Smii7y, Rin, Cole and I. Cole was telling some crazy story and everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves. Out of nowhere Smii7y kissed me. I laughed and kissed back.

"What was that for?" I asked. The whole group was looking at us now, since we had interrupted Cole.

"Don't look now, but that's the girl that keeps hitting on me."

All 3 of us did the exact opposite of what he said and looked.

Once we saw her, Rin and I looked at each other with a surprised facial expression.

"Smii7y," Rin said slowly, "that's Lena."

I had forgot he didn't know who Lena was.

"Wait, are you sure?" He asked. "The blonde one?" I nodded.

Lena who had not only see Smii7y kiss me, but also all of us staring at her had realized her mistake. She was hitting on her girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend. Try saying that 5 times fast. I could see the fear pass on her face as she tried to run away like we were going to chase her. We didn't care though. We all knew what we needed to do.

The three of us arrived home. Smii7y knocked on Ann's door and asked to come in. She accepted and closed the door behind him. Rin and I sat in silence. It felt like forever until the door opened again. Smii7y came out, gestured me in, and went to sit with Rin.

I took a deep breath and walked in.

"I'm so sorry," Ann said immediately with a sob. I went to hug her and assured her it was okay.

We talked for a while. She explained herself and her actions, but the reasons didn't matter much to me, I was just glad to have my friend back. When there was nothing else to say we sat in silence and she quickly fell asleep. I left her room with a smile. Smii7y was waiting for me in the living room.

"All better?" He asked. I nodded and smiled.

He stood up to meet me in a hug.

"I love you, Smii7y," I whispered while looking onto his eyes. His eyes brightened at the words.

"I love you too, Miki," he whispered back. We stayed there for a moment.

Our first I love you. I thought back to everything that had happened. When I first saw him in the hotel lobby in LA, the night with the fireworks, the day at the coffee shop, the cabin and everything in between. I thought about my trauma and Eric and the kidnapping and the police. But I knew it was okay.

Smii7y made me feel safe. He made me feel loved, and I was so thankful for him.

When he invited me into his bedroom for the night, I couldn't deny it. And I fell asleep the same way I had months and months ago: dreaming about fireworks and Canadian boys.
