CHAPTER SEVENTEEN;
❝ WHEN THE OWLERY BECOMES
A PICKUP PLACE ! ❞⠀⠀⠀SO SHE MIGHT'VE lied about heading down to the village later. It was Saturday, another Hogsmeade weekend for them. Charlotte and Kate had tried their hardest to get a sleepy Manon out of bed and out the castle but she managed to get them to leave without her with the assurance that she'd join them sometime later around lunch. However, she only planned on sleeping in and lazing around all day and maybe finish off that annoying piece of Alchemy homework in the evening, by the fireplace in the Common Room.
⠀⠀⠀Still though, first things first. Her parents deserved to know what the fuck has been going on with her. All in all, Manon had only sent three letters the entire time. First when school began, second when September ended and third after Halloween. She was sure they were somewhat updated on her because of James but it's definitely better if she does it too.
⠀⠀⠀With the regular but now receding-into-the-background ache of loss and missing someone but a genuine upward curl of her lips, Manon pulled on a washed blue turtle neck, tucked inside her acid-washed jeans. Letter in her hand, she trudged down the Ravenclaw Tower, through the castle corridors and up a flight of stairs to the Owlery.
⠀⠀⠀Phillipe was right there in the middle, surrounded by many other owls. He turned his head and stared at her from his place, following her movements with his angry eyes. Yes, he definitely was angry at her. When was the last time she'd been up here? So, in essence, his anger was dignified and understandable.
⠀⠀⠀Feeling guilty, Manon offered him a sad smile, "I'm sorry for not visiting, Phillipe. I've been a bad friend a lot lately."
⠀⠀⠀In response, he stared at her for a couple of seconds longer before turning away and shifting his attention to the pale sky seen from one of the owlery's many windows.
⠀⠀⠀"Come on, don't do that to me now," Manon softly and sadly said, eyes guilty and remorseful, "I'm really sorry."
⠀⠀⠀I guess bribery can be justified here.
⠀⠀⠀"I'll give you five owl treats if you make up with me."
⠀⠀⠀That definitely got his attention because first, his neck snapped in her direction super fast and then he took flight to perch himself on the window second most nearest to her. He didn't approach her any further though, eyeing her in interest and waiting.
⠀⠀⠀Manon fought back a small grin. "Okay, ten owl treats."
⠀⠀⠀And that's how you make up with your owl by Manon Potter. The haughty barn owl flew up to her shoulder, hooting almost endearingly before nipping her ear, just a little too harshly. But that was enough for him to let go of his grudge because he then stuck out his leg for her to tie the letter to.
