Anika stood over the dead body studying it. It was the body of Ares wife. No one knew that he was the one studying the body. In fact he was the only person that knew where the body was located. His brother Darius was friends with Ares. Anika never understood Darius, who had devoted years of his life to training to fight. Now he was going on and on about some girl named Aida. He has for about seven days all he has spoke of was Aida.
Anika was grateful to be away from home and to have a reason to stay away for so long. The day turned into night but Anika did not leave. He stayed taking notes. He was fascinated my the body, by medicine, by science. His gift was wisdom. The way his brother was gifted with art. It was his pleasure to have books. When he ran his hand over their spine he got a chill.
Anika finally set down his work for the first real time in days. He walked out of the building into a small house down the street that he often occupied. A beautiful woman named Daisy brought him a bowl of hot stew and bread. She came and sat down on his lap. Anika had every intention to marry Daisy some day.
"I must go to visit my uncle in Hades to speak with him." He brushed Daisy's hair out of her eyes. "I will return soon."
"Anika please be careful." Daisy stood from his lap and begged him. Anika rose to stand with her.
"Of course I will my darling." He leaned down and pressed his lips firmly to her to reassure her. Anika's parents did not know about his love. Nor did he plan on them knowing. He already had everything ready to move into the house his father had built for him and his future wife.
" I love you son of Athena and Eros." Daisy spoke in a gentle tone to him.
"As I you." He kissed her one more time before he sat down and are his stew. He ate it quickly and the bread followed. Daisy had since brought in a cup of wine and he downed that.
"I must go now. But I shall return." Anika promised. He left Daisy behind. Daisy thought that Anika was not really going to visit Hades. But she did not voice as much. Anika was not to know of her doubt. She believed he just needed a break from his work. And he would find one wherever it was he was headed.
Anika traveled to Hades. It was always open to him and his family although people had come to believe once you were there you could never come back. Hades was always fond of his mother for reasons Anika knew not.
"Awe young Anika. Look how well you have aged. The ladies must love you." Hades greeted Anika. Hades always liked Darius the best out of the boys. He figured the young girl would have been his favorite. If she had not been taken. Even after all this time her disappearance was a great sadness to the people of Olympus.
"Thank you uncle. I have to say shall we get some wine?" Anika always found it was best to speak with his uncle after a few drinks have been passed around. Yet Anika was not one to get drunk. He enjoyed wine with meals but other than that he was pass the chance to truly drink.
"Yes of course. " Hades held out his arm in gesture to the dinning room. Anika accepted. Just as they were about to enter the room Anika saw a beautiful young woman. She could be no older than seventeen.
"Who might that be?" Anika asked his uncle.
"That my dear boy is Aida." Hades patted him on the back and pushed him into the dinning room. They set at the table and wine was brought to them.
Anika ran over Aida in his head. That must be the girl his brother was going on about. Now he could see why. She was perfection. Aphrodite had nothing on her. But Aida was the type of woman who could not be touched.
