PERSONALITY: • Newt is an incredibly intelligent boy who is definitely an introvert and he always has been. He just prefers his own company- other people annoy him and due to his sometimes sarcastic nature he can annoy them too. He is smart but loves to discover new things as he also has a very curious personality. He likes to get to the bottom of things and work out what is going on however he tries to avoid any form of confrontation because it's normally something petty and childish and he would rather bang his head against a wall than get involved... Not to mention he can be incredibly selfish unless he actually grows to care about someone.
He comes across as incredibly emotionless, almost inhuman. He lacks normal emotions, except anger. He may not show it all the time but he is quite an internally angry person. He's very irritable and can have a short tempter if people are annoying him. Other emotions are somewhat foreign to him which is why it's hard for him to make friends. Not only that he comes across as a prîck which doesn't exactly help his case... His lack of emotions can sometimes come across as concerning to normal people but he doesn't think there's anything wrong with it. His facial expressions also change very rarely which can be hard to tell what mood he's in.
He's also very matter of fact, get to the point. He's not going to waste your time simply because he hates his time being wasted. He won't ponder round a subject unless he's actually speechless. He's blunt and has absolutely no filter...
Newt doesn't think his abilities are that useful even though many think otherwise. What's he going to do, throw a bucket at them? Newt isn't the most humble person but he does admit that he thinks his power is pointless and probably won't help much with the war... He needs to discover more about his power in order to be more confident with it.
Newt much prefers animals or machinery over people. On the battlements he prefers to be around any sort of mechanism because people just annoy him... In his free time he likes to be surrounded by nature and animals- he's very knowledgeable on the things that he's interested in. This of course includes animals and some different mechanics that are on the battlements. He also is interested to learn more about his abilities so see if he's capable of more than he knows.
Newt has never felt like he belongs anywhere and he doesn't think he will fit in with the other kids but he doesn't care about people's opinions. He doesn't exactly want to be at the castle but he doesn't have much say in the matter.
LIKES: • Reading/learning about anything new • Nature and animals • He enjoys studying different mechanical devices and looking at their functions etc. He also likes building some new inventions from time to time.
DISLIKES: • Immature people annoy him on another level. • Honestly most people bothering him. • Feeling foreign emotions because if confuses him.
STRENGTHS: • Intelligent • Doesn't get offended easily or often and very rarely starts or gets involved with drama. • He can be a rule breaker. He just wants to do his own thing and if he wants to do something, he's going to do it.
WEAKNESSES/FLAWS: • Lacks emotions that normal people have. • He can come across as incredibly rude and sarcastic, has absolutely no filter which isn't always positive. • Looses his tempter and can loose control.
HABITS: • He plays with a bracelet that the master of his old house gave him. It was his mother's and she wanted him to have it after she passed away. He mainly fiddles with it when he's thinking about something a lot.
BACKSTORY: • Newt grew up incredibly poor, his mother was a maid and she was always working to provide for them. He was incredibly close to her until she passed away. He was taken in by the master of the house who seemed to pity him in some way- he started just cleaning and helping where he could until he developed a relationship with the master and was treat like the masters son. The master taught him a lot including teaching him how to read and write which is why he loves reading and learning so much. He wouldn't be as intelligent if the master of the house didn't teach him how to read and write. Newt got incredibly attached to him after his mother died which was weird for Newt as he very rarely grows genuine bonds for people. The master had no trouble in giving him away (so it seemed to Newt) because he wasn't going to put up a fight for what most people believed to be his 'bästard child'. He hates that word. He holds a lot of resentment towards him for just giving him away so easily, he didn't even say goodbye and Newt never quite understood why. He also refers to the Master of the house as his father.
THOUGHT ON THE ROYALS: • He has no idea why he's here and thinks they could easily be lying to him about what they're fighting for. He's suspicious but hasn't formed much of an opinion on them just yet.
