As my father and I entered the restaurant I looked around.

The place had medium crowd but I found a empty seat and we sat down, he was just admiring the place before he sat down and spoke.

"You know I haven't been here since your mom and sister passed?"

"Yes I know dad."

"I didn't even know it had a different owner they even changed the name, place looks pretty nice though.
They really did a number on this place and still kept some of the things that made it original.
I took your mom on our first date here."

" I know dad that's why I bought it, it holds a lot of memories for me and after Mr Parker died I didn't want it to be torn down so I bought it."

"Wait what, my daughter own this restaurant?"

" Yes sir I do, Nicola and I" actually.
Nicola! my favorite girl how is she doing?"

As I was about to speak Nelly approached me.

"Good morning Ms McConnell, Good morning to you sir. "

We both said
"Good morning" in sync.

"This is my dad nelz, dad this is nelly he's the newest addition to our team. I'm actually his legal guardian, he's gonna be a doctor some day, the 17 year old boy suddenly got nervous.

" A doctor eh that a wise choice
young man," my dad spoke up.

"Yes sir I want to be in a profession where I can help people like Ms McConnell here she got me out of juvie and gave me a better life and I intend to make her proud, "
I was now blushing at his charm.

" I see potential in you nelz an for the last time call me Jen."

"Ok Mam I mean Jen" with that my dad laughed and nelz place the menu in front of us an began to pour water in our cups,
He smiled at us an walked away.

"So what's good here?" Dad asked.
" well it island Thursday, so we can pick from some Caribbean island cuisines".

"Wow you guys offer that here?"

"Yeah I recently hired a chef for the Caribbean since one of the older guys retired"
i watched as my dad become excited while going for to the menu.

" it's okay Dad I'll order for you."

"Awesome."
with that I place my arm up and snap my fingers and nelz came along.

"Are you guys ready to order" he's being so professional right now.

"Yes I'll take two servings of rice and peas, 1 servings of curry goat an roti, two servings of press plantains 1 serving of stew beef and a bowl of soup and a servings of ackee and salt fish."

"Yes mam coming right up" he scribbled down before walking away.

"How are  you going eat so much food?"

"You're gonna love it and beside were gonna have company" as I said that I felt fingers over my eyes.

"Nick I know it's you."

"More life to you and this day my friend."
I know why she always say that, and It makes me feel a little better when she does.

I got up and hugged my best friend,
"Thanks honey" I turn from our embrace to see that my dad was recording us.

Nick hugged him instantly I don't know why he never forgets her.

" Hello my darling I can't remember the last time I saw you, how's everything my dear?"
