19. I'll Have To Talk To My Girlfriend

"Yes."

"We want you to come to New Haven for a month to trial with the team here. You have 3 days to get a response back to us. The trip is free of charge and a great opportunity as it goes on your resume."

"Thank you so much" The words gushed from Ben's mouth, and I couldn't help from smiling.

"Is that a yes?"

"Oh. Umm. I will have to call you back. I have to talk to my girlfriend about it. I don't want to leave her, you see she's pregnant, and under a lot of stress. But I will call you when I have an answer." My heart warmed at the thought of Ben putting aside his dream so he could be with me.

"Pregnant? Aren't you seventeen?"

"Well it wasn't exactly planned"

The person on the phone laughed and told Ben to call him when he had an answer. Ben hung up and hopped into bed. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the back of my head. We dozed off to sleep, his arms wrapped around me.

"Ash wake up, we have to talk."

I groan and sit up. I decide to talk first.

"Look, did you cheat on me?"

"Of course not. Chloe was laughing at you and I was mouthing at her to stop, and then she was taking photos of us. I would never cheat on you."

I gave him a hug and a light peck on the lips.

"Now what did you want to tell me?" I ask.

"The scout called me last night when you were asleep. They want me to go to New Haven for a month to trial with the team there. But I won't go if you need me here."

"Of course you should go. I'll be fine here by myself. I'm really proud of you?", I say smiled. He gives me a hug.
