David and I rushed back to Ross Enterprises in Cassie. David cloaked the beamship and we arrived at the gleaming black tower in seconds. I checked the outside for any damage but didn't see any. Whatever damage the Grimm inflicted stayed on the inside.

David and I rushed into his father's office. Michael Ross lurked over his desk talking with Nicole and several associates. He waved us in when he saw us and dismissed his associates.

"Father, are you all right?" David said.

"Don't I look all right?" Michael Ross snapped back and pointed to Nicole. "It's Agent Heidegger you should be worried about. She took on eight Dra Khan warriors and lived to tell about it."

"I was just doing my duty, sir" Nicole said.

I tried to picture a single ranger taking on eight of those dragon things and couldn't do it. There was no way I could have done it without using the Wend. My respect for Nicole Heidegger increased. She might not be the most personable of the Blackstone Rangers but she was certainly one of the toughest.

"What happened to my Uncle?" I blurted out.

Michael Ross flipped through documents that were projected from his razor phone. "He was taken by the Grimm. Our more important concern is the location of the Quantum Bomb. David, I want you and Agent Heidegger to organize a search of the city. Take every available Ranger and—"

I leaped across the desk and grabbed Ross by the throat. "You better find my Uncle, you son of a bitch! I don't care what else you do, but you better take care of him first."

David and Nicole pulled me off Ross. I fought and screamed.  I was so close to using the Dark Power. At that moment, all I could think about was destroying Michael Ross and everything he represented. I didn't care if I died. I just wanted him gone.

Michael glared at me and composed himself, rubbing his throat where my hands had grabbed him. "I can understand you're upset, Grant. But hysterics won't return your uncle to us."

"He's right, Eliza, we need to sit back and think of a plan. There's more at stake here than one person's life." David said.

I shook off David and Nicole, took a deep breath and forced myself to calm down. This wasn't the right time to deal with Michael Ross. I could hear Mary's voice chastising me for my impatience. A Keeper of the Wend must always be in control.

"So what do we do?" I asked.

Michael touched a display on his tablet computer, and a holographic map of the city shot up. He pointed to several dozen red dots that crisscrossed the city. "These are the locations where the distinct signature of the Quantum Bomb has been located. It appears that the Grimm are teleporting the bomb from one location to another."

"Of course, it's much harder to hit a moving target," David said.

"So how in the Dragon's name are we supposed to stop this thing if we don't know where it's going to appear next?" Nicole asked.

"I know where it will appear," a familiar voice said behind us.

I spun around and saw Carrie limping through the door supported by Thomas. The two healers, Sarah and Miguel, followed behind her.

I ran to Carrie and threw my arms around her. She smiled and patted me on the shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine too. Thanks for asking." Thomas sniffed.

I punched Thomas on the shoulder. "I knew you were okay, dummy."

"This display of affection is touching, but we have more important matters to discuss. Miss Brunner, I hope you're bringing us something useful." Michael said.
