I couldn't sleep since when I woke up for prayers at around 5am. It's going to be my first day at work and I am feeling anxious. I glanced at the clock and see that it's already 6:43am. I slouchily make my way to the bathroom. I took my time in there and came out clean and nice.
I don't know what to wear on my first day, but after searching for like forever, I pulled out a brown body-con dress and a black abaya to cover up. I applied a little make up and grabbed a matching bag and loafers.
I headed down stairs to get something to eat. Binta made some sandwich for me. I ate it steadily before going to bid mum.
"Salam mum!" I say in a low voice
"Wslm dear" she say in a sleepy voice
"I'm going to work, this will be my first day. Wish me luck" I say smiling at her
"I wish you the very best dear. Take care"
"Thank you mum. Bye" i say kissing her on her forehead.
I glanced at the clock and see that it's 7:42am
Ohh shit, I shouldn't be late on my first day I muttered to myself.
I drive like a maniac. The traffic was so annoying but made it to the office at 8:15am.
Great Leenah, just great! This is your first day at work and you're 15mins late.
I hurriedly made my way into the building.
I finally made it to my office with the help of some lady.
"Hi, my name is Jasmine and I am your assistant " she say smiling sweetly at me
"Hi, I guess you already know about me and it's nice to meet you" I say sweetly
"Thank you! So, this will be your schedule for today, if you are confused about anything or need any help just call me ok?" She say handing me some file
"Sure! Thank you Jasmine" I say and dismissed her
I went through the file and see that I have to make up for the mess that the ex accountant did and reorganize most things before taking them to my boss and see how it'll go.

Hours has passed by and I spent those hours trying to sort things out.
"Hi ma'am.It's time for lunch. I'll also go get mine" Jasmine say interrupting me
"Okay, thank you, i will join you in a few" I say softly
"Ok" she answered and left
I paused the work and made my way to the toilet, performed ablution and prayed in my office. Imagine me having my own office and assistant . It's not that bad.
I dashed out of the office to go grab something to eat.
"Hi Leenah" I heard someone yelling
I turned to see Adil making his way to me
"Hi, Adil, What's up?" I say smiling
"Cool, so you got the job? I am so happy for you really" he says smiling sweetly
"Yeah! Luckily. I'm going to grab some food. Want to join?" I ask
"Yes sure! Was also out for the same reason" he assured me and we went to an eatery nearby. It's where I and Noor went the last time.
I wonder where he has been or what's up with him. Since the other day we went out, he stopped responding to my texts and calls. I just pray all is well.
On reaching there, we ordered for some food. Actually, I ordered for pizza while Adil ordered for Basmati stuffle.
"So, how is your first day at work like?" Adil ask
"Well, I just spent the past hours trying to make up for the mess that the previous accountant did" I say calmly biting on my pizza
"Ohh yeah! He really did pissed off the boss. Which made him call us all out for a meeting giving us a warning and saying that he wouldn't mind firing us all if we don't focus" Adil say sounding pissed
"I haven't met him and I don't think I am ready to. Don't know what he's like" I say shaking my head
"Trust me you wouldn't want to know" he stated
"At least tell me some things so I'd get prepared" I say faking a sad face
"Ok, he's cold, harsh, easily get angry and we barely see him smile. That's all for now" he said
"Wow! Ok thanks!" I muttered
We ate silently before heading back to the office.
"Can I get your number Leenah?" He ask sounding unassured.
"Okay...??!!" I responded almost like a question and gave him the number
"Thanks see you around" he said and I smiled before we all went our separate ways.
I headed back to my office but Jasmine was not at her desk. Guess she's not done.
I walked to my desk and continued doing my work.
After about half an hour i heard a knock on the door.
I looked up to see Jasmine
"Hey Leenah! The boss wants you print out the file that has been stored in the last month. It has been worked on before you came here. When done, he wants me to take them to him" she said smiling
"Okay! I'd do that right away"
I finally managed to print them and compile them in one place.
I went to hand them over to Jasmine
"Here are the files Jasmine" i say handing them to her
I am so thankful that I don't have to see his face nor deal with any of his attitudes.
"Ok. I'd take this and be back" she said and left
The day passed by like that.
I managed to cover up quarter of the work and Jasmine was helpful too. Don't know what I'd have done without her.
I tidied up the office lock it up and left the office. Adil kept calling but I ignored him. I don't even know why I was doing that.
I just feel like he has nothing to say.
I'd call him when I reach home.
