“Makin my way downtown, walking fast,” I sung for the third time.
“Kellin, man, I love you, but shut the fuck up, would you?” Rian hissed at me.
It was sometime between 12-3 AM, you kinda lose track of time in jail. Rian was being released tomorrow, I on the other hand had another day to pull through.
“I don't know about you, but I have school tomorrow, so for Christ's sake, go to bed,” Rian whined.
“I can't,” I groaned, turning on my side.
“Insomnia?”
I shook my head. “Just energized, I guess.” My answer was muffled by my pillow that I buried my face in.
“Okay man, I'm gonna sleep.”
“Goodnight Rian,” I whispered, and let my thoughts fill my mind.
-
“Wake up, sunshine,” Vic said, hitting my cell bars.
I groaned. “I just fell asleep,” I whined, but took the tray of food he was holding.
“You stayed up all night?” He questioned.
I nodded. “Couldn't sleep.” I took a bite of the potato's.
“Insomnia?” He asked, leaning on the wall.
I scoffed. “Everyone assumes that. No, just.. stuff, I guess.”
“Stuff? Care to elaborate?”
“Y'know, lil ol friend up here likes to talk.” I pointed to my head and took another bite. “I also persuaded Purdy into getting me some coffee before bed.”
Vic snorted. “Damn, must really convincing then.”
I shrugged and shoved the beans down my throat.
“What were you thinking about?”
I glanced up at him, giving a confused look. He shrugged. “Just asking.”
“Stuff, I guess. Nothing too important.” Maybe in a way it was important, it felt like it was. No, it wasn't. Wouldn't be, anyways.
“Well uh, your parents are coming in thirty minutes, so hurry up,” Vic informed me.
“Okay,” I muttered and continued eating my breakfast.

“I don't know what to do anymore, Kellin,” my mother sighed as we sat at the kitchen table. Another 'family meeting,' as my parents put it.
“Then don't do anything.” I picked at my dinner, not interested in the beans that usually brought me joy. My mother's gaze held concern I'd seen before. Was I being too obvious? I'd have to change that. I took a bite of the beans and forced it down my throat.
“We want you to talk to someone,” my father explained.
“Just give me another grounding, or whatever. I won't get into trouble,” I persuaded. “I promise,” I added after seeing the doubtful looks of my parents.
“Haven't heard that before,” my mother mumbled sarcastically with a roll of her eyes.
“Mom, Dad- Fuck, I'm sorry, okay? I promise- This time I mean it.” I tugged my mouth for a half hearted smile. “Whatever you're implying, isn't needed. Look, I'm- I'm gonna go upstairs, okay? A-And, I don't know. Give me a few days, and if I stay out of trouble, you'll get off my back?”
My mom frowned and gave my father a glance.
“F- Fine, okay. Finish your dinner and do your homework,” my father told me with a nod.
