„You need to intense the energy of the Holy Silver Crystal to heal him properly!"
He heard a female voice instructing excitingly. He was paralyzed by this warm bright light which surrounded his entire body, giving his mind scenes he experienced in his life but had been buried deep inside his heart.
One seemed to be his first encounter with Usagi, but confused him even more now.
‚I just met her three months ago, didn't I? How come her friend Naru is not in this scene although I met her, too? It feels so strange, as if it took place longer ago. A year or so.'
The second scene showed him and Usagi solemnly dressed. It was late at night and both were on a large balcony. They kissed.
,When the heck did this happen anyway?!'
In a third one he was dressed up in a tuxedo again and had a dark cylinder, a white mask to hide his eyes and a black cape with red lining. He was fighting side by side with the Sailor team.
,Exactly as Kousagi described my super hero alter ego.'
Finally the sparkling energy stopped and he fell...deeper and deeper...and woke up in his bed before he could hit the ground, dripping with sweat and highly perturbed. Still breathing heavily he bent over and took his hand on his forehead
„Geez, what was that? A dream? My real life? Why? Why can't I remember?"
He buried his head in his hands and sighed deeply. The alarm rang and he knew that he should get up soon in order to have enough time to prepare for the first rehearsal.
The friend he mentioned to Kousagi had called him desperately the other day. All of the planned actors had fought over the distribution of roles and eventually left when they couldn't reach an agreement. Apparently the ‚Thaming of the Shrew' was not supposed to be performed. Thus, he was looking for new people and a slightly easier play as well.
Fortunately, Usagi and her friends were willing to fill in and a new theme was found quickly; Snow White and the seven dwarfs. A small voice in his head told him that the choice for this plot was not a coincidence at all since he was aware that this fairy tale was the favorite of a certain dark pink Odango.
Apart from his role the others were decided by drawing lots, so they could start today with the first scenes. Two things were not sorted and on top of his to do list, though; Find a seventh dwarf (Kousagi and Motoki refused to take a part in the play) and get unique costumes for them. The second task he had handed over to the dark pink haired teenager.
So contrary to her habit of sleeping late, she got up very early and found herself in the middle of a costume rental, rummaging in a big old chest and commented on each piece by muttering to herself
„No, this won't work...nah, this neither...that one? Oh please not...for Gods sake what IS this, please? No...no...not at all..."
Kousagi threw out one after the other clothing which didn't make the shortlist. Which was everything. After searching at least five of these cupboards she stood up defeated and very disappointed she left the shop without any piece of a prey.
‚Damn it, why is it so difficult to find proper costumes for the play? He said dwarfs, didn't he?! Fancy ones!'
Sure, finding the right outfits for this play wasn't the most difficult task, but Kousagi's approach was to find the best costumes ever. The prince's clothes were simple. She had insisted on choosing an outfit that included a black cape and red lining so that Mamoru could get a slight understanding of how it felt to go back to the roots. On the contrary, the princess dress should have been as meaningless as possible, since the bearer would be the hated horrible Natsumi. When she heard that the witch should play the good one, Kousagi almost had a heart attack and began to swear like a trooper.
When Mamoru denied to switch any further roles, she decided to find the most uncomfortable and ugliest dress she could think of for the Ginga brat. Her father was more than happy when she presented him an eggshell yellow princess nightmare of a dress.
'At least I can rely on his bad fashion taste.'
Her mother's dress was a tricky one indeed. An antagonist was not able to appear in the most wonderful garment so she chose a simple dark grey gown and added a carrot nose which was a little cheeky of her since she knew that Usagi hated them utterly.
‚Maybe clown costumes? Well no, too much make up needed.'
Kousagi continued her search and walked through the streets of Juban Azabu. A few moments later she spotted Umino entering a shop.
‚What does he want here? Isn't he supposed to go to the reherseal today as well?'
She stepped closer and glanced through the window of the shop. Umino spoke to a salesman, holding several red pointed hats in his arms.
Oh god, how unimaginative and how dare Mamoru give Umino the same instructions about dwarf costumes as I did! I have to do something, otherwise the play will be a lame disaster! '
Kousagi rolled up his sleeves combatively. She climbed the stairs and marched straight to the store. When she passed through the door, she beamed at him and explained in a determined voice, pointing to the dwarf hats.
"This is definitely not going to work!"
"Uh what? Who are you anyway? "The schoolboy inspected her with a confused look.
At that moment she realized that he had no idea who she was. The last time Umino met her, she had a slightly different appearance. With that in mind, a plan began to form in Kousagi's mind.
'He wants funny costumes, he gets them! 'She rubbed her hands mentally and put on a formal face.
"Me? Oh excuse me. May I introduce myself. I am the daughter of the director who runs the theater where you will perform the play 'Snow White' ... and I have to tell you that by simply putting on hats you cannot enchant any of the audience and definitely won't hit the dramaturgical aspect of this wonderful story. "
"Oh okay, so what would you recommend instead of the hats?" Umino seemed to buy her story and was looking forward to her answer.
„Animals! Pretty and cute ones. Who says dwarfs always have to be old, grim and small? There is so much room for interpretation and it would be a waste if you missed the opportunity and withheld such an abstract revolution from the audience. The reviews of the play will surpass anything you can imagine if you break new ground. "
She looked briefly at the shop offer, took several animal costumes and gave them to the salesman and the teenager. One of them was uglier than the other.
Umino's face lit up with the idea of receiving an award for his creativity and venture. He clapped his hands in excitement.
"Oh my god, you're awesome! It's an insanely inspiring idea of yours, wahhhh!"
Saying this, he took her hands and started whirling around until Kousagi felt almost sick.
"Okay, okay enough, please! I'm glad to be of help to you, but please stop it! You have a girlfriend, right ?!"
Umino's face turned tomato red and he immediately raised his hands in defense.
„Yes of course I do. She is the best I could think of! Oh by the way, I must leave now otherwise I'll be running late for the first rehearsal. Bye and thanks again for your support, much appreciated!" By saying this he stormed out of the store and left behind a stunned Kousagi and a confused sales clerk.
„Well, young lady. Anything I can help you with?" She kindly turned her attention back to the dark pink bun head.
„Oh yes indeed" She replied with at least the same friendliness „Do you have this in my size?" She grabbed a green blue checkered costume which had a centered big red ribbon and buttons in the same color. When the salesperson nodded in confirmation Kousagi happily clapped her hands together. „Perfect, just some more accessoires such as a funny hat, some silly shoes, a pink white umbrella and perhaps some cruel make up and my outfit for the seventh dwarf will be ready. This will be a great surprise for dad!"
