Kousagi was delighted with her chosen outfit and happily hopped through the streets of Juban. She wanted to show her yield to her uncle in the arcade.
When she reached the Game Crown Center, she saw through the doors how Motoki was talking to a teenage girl. She had light brown hair that was tied in a ponytail. Both were making jokes and in his friendly manner he hugged the little girl.
"It must be Unazuki, his little sister, whom he mentioned to me when we talked the other day."
She became very thoughtful. Suddenly a picture came to mind, in which Chibiusa and she hugged, causing her a strange feeling of homesickness. She grabbed the golden time travel key which hung on her necklace and clutched it. She took a deep breath as she watched the two siblings through the closed glass doors. They hadn't noticed her yet.
'My mission has not been accomplished yet, I cannot leave Mamoru. '
She sighed again and decided to go back to the apartment. When she walked through the door, her stomach gave a reproachful growl and she started preparing a meal for herself and her future father.
'Curry rice is the right dish for tonight and custard is served as a dessert. It is the traditional cheering meal of Chibiusa and me. '
The recurring memories of her home only made Kousagi sad. She couldn't deny that she didn't belong to this timeline. Apart from her relatives Motoki and Mamoru, she had no friends and missed her family very much, even if parts of them were here in the past. Somehow.
‚Maybe being almost fifteen is not the same as being grown up and old enough to live my own life.'
While she was lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice the sound of the front door being unlocked.
Mamoru entered his apartment and yawned heavily. It had been a pretty busy day for him. They didn't have much time to prepare for the play, and the dress rehearsal was tomorrow. So it was a pretty stressful job to do.
‚As if my life wasn't filled with many other things.'
He was also quite confused about his feelings about a certain blonde Odango. Having seen Sailor Moon in the park, he couldn't get rid of the thought that the heroine might have something in common with Usagi, although it didn't make sense.
‚My last dream had shown that I kissed her, Usagi. Not Sailor Moon. Why? Why do I feel the urge to save her and why the hell did I enjoy the kissing scene so much? What is the key to all of these things?'
While struggling mentally with these problems, he recognized the pink bun head that was in his kitchen and seemed to be quite busy.
"What are you doing?!"
She turned around and glanced at him, dressed with his orange apron and held a spatula in her hand.
"What does it look like? I am cooking! Do you like to taste some vanilla pudding?"
„Okay but this is the first time you are doing this since you've decided to occupy my living room - 'and nearly every piece of my life as well!' How come that you are discovering now your cooking skills? And why is it vanilla pudding anyways?"
Kousagi decided to confront him with her inner struggle and retorted glumly
"I feel homesick and wanted to cook something my whole family loves so I am not feeling too far away from them. Can you understand that?"
Mamoru rewarded her with an unreadable expression on his face. He stepped closer and finally he uttered by shrugging slightly
"I guess I cannot understand it since I don't know what family really means."
Before she could return anything to him he continued by frowning deeply
"You have to know my parents died when I was six years old. I don't remember them since I lost my memory on this day, too. Everything was taken from me so I have never experienced a feeling you call homesickness."
This was nothing else but the truth to his mind. Kousagi starred at him and felt tremendously guilty of her before spoken words. Her father had never told her about this part of his former life but this actually was the real reason she wanted go back to this timeline. Spend time with him in order find out who he was.
In Crystal Tokyo it simply was this not possible. The royal family obligations took too much space in all of their life's and anything was so formal and didn't allow them to build up a proper relation. At least to Kousagis mind, here, everything was so easy in comparison to where she came from.
„Mamoru" With an apologetical look on her face she started awkwardly „I am sorry. I honestly didn't know this. However, there will be so much great things waiting for you. Actually they are that marvelous that I want to see them as soon as possible. I...I just miss my home and my family."
Her words reached his heart and he knew that if Kousagi left him, there would be a gap. The earlier strange feeling of being a father someday had been replaced by a certain awareness that he would really like to be a father ... especially Kousagis.
„I am looking forward to it." He smiled at her and tried to distract her by starting a new topic. „Before you go please come and watch our play. You will like it!"
„Well, if there wasn't a witch who acted as a princess, I would probably have a lot of fun." She retorted to him, made a pouting face and crossed her arms.
„Oh come on, Natsumi had been very supportive, although I don't know why she desperately wanted to act as Snow White. A dwarf definitely would have suited her better."
„Or the evil queen." Kousagi added sourly.
„Nah, not at all. You should see Usagi in this role. She is fantastic! I have hardly seen anyone acting with so much passion and being at the same time so dark and dangerous in such a role. As if she already had a real bad queen once experienced. Funny. Anyway, I really recommend you to watch the play otherwise you will regret it."
She gave him a stunned glance and defeated by his argument, she sighed deeply.
‚I hope this worrying status of not remembering a thing will not last until I am born!'
„Okay, I 'll come...actually I have a surprise for you!" She pulled out her white cat face ball and threw it up in the air while she was shouting
„Artemis T -transform!"A few moments later, Kousagi was dressed in her rented costume, wearing her pink hair in curls and sitting on a unicycle. Playfully she held a clown hat in her hands and grinned devilishly at Mamoru who was utterly confused
„Right, what's that supposed to be?!"
"I thought you were still looking for the seventh dwarf...so...tadaaa!"
"Looks rather like a copy of Pierrot to me but fair enough, 'dwarf', its not as pretty and unique as the other costumes Umino has chosen but why not? It's art isn't it."
When he said this, he shrugged and was somewhat relieved to be able to keep Kousagi with him for a little while in the place he called his home.
